More About Coach Kanisha

I have coached AAU 15 and under for the Michigan Crossover. I am a certified Athletic Trainer so I use what I know about injury prevention in conjunction with basketball skills and drills. I have been a certified athletic trainer for over seven years and have worked for LA Fitness, Lincoln Memorial University and the WNBA's New York Liberty. I am now currently employed at The University of Michigan Medicine as an Outreach Athletic Trainer at Ypsilanti Community HS. I am also the founder of The Roundball Factory and owner/GM of the Women's Basketball Blue Chip League (WBCBL) Detroit Dodgers.

As an athlete I overcame a lot of obstacles. As a high school student athlete I helped my team to the MHSAA Class B State Championship and won it all in 2005. I went on to receive a full athletic scholarship at Wright State University (in Dayton, OH) and received All-Defensive Team for the 2010 Horizon League honors. There after I played semi-pro (WBCBL) and was apart of the All-Northeast Region team.

I am currently playing for the professional women's basketball team for The Flint Monarchs and owner/GM/player for The Detroit Dodgers.

A typical session would be focused around my clients weaknesses. Ball handling drills, rebounding drills, and agility are somethings that EVERY players (no matter the position) needs to have. Due to the discretion of the various athletes needing coaching, I am unable to give a walk through of how a session would be. However, one thing is for sure, there will be a dynamic warm up before each session with lots of encouragement and hardwork for the duration of the session.

Also since I am an athletic trainer, my schedule can and will vary. So please communicate with me so we can make everything work together.

Just left session with Coach Kanisha. Our 3 Freshman girls can't say enough about their great experience. She quickly and very accurately pinpointed what they needed to work on and by the end of the session they all made great advancements and felt more confident. Very personable and knowledgeable, you can tell she loves what she does.

Coach Kanisha was very thorough with the first training of my 14 yo daughter. My girl is a very athletic(Travel Soccer Player) but a bit raw when it comes to basketball. Coach checked her ability and showed her good fundamentals of how to improve her game quickly. She was fun and motivating. My daughter really likes her. We wish she could be her regular coach. We will be back when time allows. I highly recommend her! Thanks Coach! Oh yeah, my daughters first shot attempt in her game the day after training. "Drained It"!

Coach K is a great coach. My son just turned 6 and in interested in playing basketball, but doesn't understand how the game is played. She was very patient with him and made sure she was teaching him the fundamentals but letting him have fun at the same time. She was always encouraging him, but was not scared to challenge him when necessary. Plus, my son had a great time!

Coach Kanisha is an amazing coach! Now today was just my first practice with her, but I feel that I have a good sense how my training with her is going to go. I learned so much about the bad habits I have and how to fix them in just one day. I've went to a few trainers before her in past summers and nobody was quite like her. She has her own unique style. I definitely recommend her to others. She establishes a friendly relationship, making training that much better. At the same time she will push you to make you an overall better player. I'm so excited to continue my training with her and believe she can help me to reach the next level in my game.

Coach Kanisha was awesome! My son was cut from his freshman team and, at 5'11", was told that if he wanted to make the team next year, he'd have to work on playing guard. Kanisha knew what types of drills to put him through, had him working on strengthening his left hand, and after just one session, I see vast improvement in his skill AND his confidence. Thank you!

Coach Kanisha is great! She help my nine year old son out a lot with his game. She boost his confidence level up. Overall fabulous and will recommend her to everyone.

Coach Kanisha was outstanding. Her knowledge and experience of the game improved my daughter's skills in one practice. She would always use words of encouragement and had a very positive attitude. If you need quality one on one training, I highly recommend Coach Kanisha.

Coach Kanisha is great ! We are very pleased so far and are looking forward to future session with her.

First off, congrats on everything! Second, I know it's been awhile, but I wanted to let you know that I have always looked up to you (metaphorically of course). Today I was reminded of a game, I don't remember who it was against, but it went into overtime and we both had played almost the whole game. I was done! I thought I couldn't push anymore, you grabbed my head and said "you got this, keep pushing". I don't even remember the outcome of the game, all I know is that when I'm struggling in life I think of that. So thanks for being a role model! And tell your family I said hello! Miss you all!
