More About Coach Kai
I have over 10 years of experience with basketball, either as a player or as a coach. If there was a court, I was on that court playing. It didn't matter if it was at a gym like Occidental College, at California State Fullerton or UCR. Or a outside court at Venice Beach, driving all the way down to Torrance to play ball at Rolling Hills Prep. Going to every 24 hour fitness in the southland and just working hard on developing and honing my skills. I've played high school ball, I've played semi pro ball for the ABA and I've also played basketball overseas. Within this time I've grown a love and passion for training, training teammates, training adolescents anyone who was willing to listen. I am a point guard so my sessions range from each and every facet of the game. Ball handling, shooting, defensive principles, I specialize in special development for players also, weight lifting and training to maximize a individuals potential. My experience in player development has been for 5 years now.
I now want to be a asset, I want to be there for players like my coaches were there for me. I want to help players improve on their ball handling improve on there shooting, and passing to get to that next level. If it's a freshman trying to make the JV team, or you're on JV trying to make Varsity, or you want to play college basketball, I want to help players get a opportunity to reach their goals. I was that guy in that same position and I know what it takes to advance your game to the next level. I am true point guard and have played this position my entire life, I am not a center, I am not a forward, i am a point guard and I know everything there is to know about the position.
I have been a MVP, I have won a dunk contest, I've been newcomer of the year. I've made all star games, I've been on the all import team just to name a few.
First and foremost, stretching is the first thing we do. get the muscles warm, and get the muscles ready to work and perform. after a nice stretch then its straight to ball handling, first with the dominate hand and then the off hand, developing that is important from guards to centers. from there we just transition into each and every facet of the game, shooting, defense, rebounding, covering every basis of basketball top to bottom in the time were are allotted each session

Client Reviews
Karen (CoachUp client)
Coach Kai is a great coach! He was patient, and gave excellent training. He explained why he does the specific exercises and my son responded back in respect for his teachings. Coach Kai is helping my son understand the game of basketball!!! Thank you!!!
John (CoachUp client)
Coach Kai is level-headed and has a firm grasp on the fundamentals. Both my son and I improved our play and shooting percentage after working with him. Like any good coach, he will push you, but he's a natural when it comes to coaching.
We would strongly recommend Coach Kai to other basketball players of all ages who want to improve their skills.
Evelyn Song (Testimonial)
A constant professional, he just really knows what he is doing. He took his time with my child, he was always upbeat and optimistic. And just tries to let them know that it’s a process. That you won’t be a pro overnight, but that it’s a livelihood and a lifestyle that you need to maintain and look forward to. It’s just falling in love with the process, and understanding that with hard work and dedicating you can get to where you need to go. Not only in sports but in life, he definitely works hard and tries to get the most of my son and for that I thank him. I would definitely recommend him to other people’s kids in a heart beat
Cheryl Crawford (Testimonial)
Coach Kai is a great guy, not only that but he is absolutely committed to working hard and trying to get the best results for those he trains. He has a great understanding and commitment towards basketball, a passion for it and I think through that he gets the best results for each and every person he works with. He is really a professional, on time, attentive and does whatever is necessary to make sure those he works with get the best results. Id absolutely recommend him, and as a parent I see the handle and also the rapport that he has with kids and its very refreshing to see. Especially with him being so young, I definitely think he knows what he is doing, anyone who works with him will certainly reap the benefits of his tutiledge
