More About Coach Joseph
I have coached Football for 6 years and Baseball 3 years, in Colorado and Virginia. Prior to coaching Baseball, I completed 2 years of private baseball instruction near the Richmond, VA area; ages 9 and up. I am a current Head Varsity Baseball coach as well as Varsity Assistant Football Coach at the same high school in Virginia. I have and am up to date on all certifications required to coach, along with CPR/First Aid Certifications.
Prior to playing at a higher level, during my high school career I was an All-State player for both Football and Baseball in the states of Virginia and Florida. During my senior year, I was selected as the 2004 Louisville Slugger Pre-Season High School All-American in baseball. After my senior season, I was drafted in the 4th round of the MLB by Pittsburgh Pirates. After which, I played three seasons of professional baseball before deciding to go back to competing football. I had previously been offered and accepted a Division I scholarship at Ohio State University for football and Coach Jim Tressel honored that when decided to come back. I played for 5 seasons at OSU where I served as captain.
Single private lessons for 30 min would focus on one specific area; for example, pitching, hitting, fielding, catching, and passing drills. For an hour session I can cater to more than one specific area, which can include a combination of the above as well as film break down. I believe it is important for the athlete to see and understand that what they are doing impacts their overall potential as athlete and I can show them what they are doing and how to correct themselves. Some specific areas of interest I would practice with a pitcher would be: balance point drills, hip to shoulder separation, and explosion. Quarterback drills would include: footwork, film study, and timing. These are just a few examples and I'm available for any and all positions, of which I would cater to each athletes individual needs.
