Personal Coach to Individual Athletes and Groups
Athletes I coach have won International age group championships, National Age Group championships, and events throughout the Eastern Seaboard.
I start athletes with technique/technical issues in all disciplines in various sessions, getting the athlete on a plan to address those issues. I also am looking for any functional strength deficits that might cause injuries later on. The key is to first address form and stability issues before adding load/training.
Next we look at the goal(s) for the athlete and build an annualized training plan to help the athlete meet those goals. I write the athlete's monthly training program on a weekly basis, monitoring performance with physiological data provided from Garmin/Polar/Timex/etc devices. Included in data we monitor are cadence (bike) or turnover rate (run) as well as power (bike) when available.
The program calls for progressive overload followed by periods of recovery/adaptation to help the athlete improve. The monthly package is $350/month. Meeting with the athlete for 1-on-1 coaching is charged at $100/hour (bulk discounts apply).

Client Reviews
Jeff (CoachUp client)
Bottom line, Coach Joe is supportive, knowledgeable, and cares about his athletes. As a newcomer to triathlon training, Coach Joe provided structure (flexible with my schedule) to my workouts and guidance on my technique which has proven very effective. He applies a thorough data-driven approach which is welcomed. Additionally, while waiting for my Garmin watch to arrive, he's offered me his watch so I may track power in the interim. I'd highly recommend Coach Joe.

I didn't know I had it in me, but Joe helped me find it. I really enjoyed working with coach Joe Bachana to resume my triathlon training after about a 3 year hiatus (laziness). Whether it's through his weekly emails to the group, personal emails and texts, or the many opportunities during each week to meet in person for training and feedback, he provides a very thorough, very well-rounded, comprehensive program for his athletes. He's constantly providing info to you, whether general info about good training practices and technique, or training tips, technique feedback, and equipment consultations that are personal to you. Through a highly technical approach, he monitors your progress very closely and provides constant feedback, encouragement, and goals setting. He accompanied his athletes to local races for support, and sent out weekly results reports during throughout the height of the tri season, citing group members' performance for the whole group to celebrate. I credit my training with Joe 100% for my personal success in the Escape from Alcatraz Tri this past June 2015. I beat my own time from 7 years ago by 18 minutes, and I'm 40 now so it's not all that easy to make that large of an improvement after that amount of time has gone by, much of it without any sustained training going on. I would absolutely recommend Joe to anyone looking for a Tri or related event coach. - John Dwyer
Joris E., multisport athlete (Testimonial)
If you're willing to put in the effort, Joe will get you to the next level. Joe leverages the latest in sports science to design your workouts and quantify metrics you've probably never heard of before. Through methodical preparation, regular follow-ups and occasional group training, you can improve tremendously. As an example, I went from roughly a middle of the pack triathlete to qualifying for the USA National Championship within one year or even podiums in local races, shaving off 40min in Oly and 80min in Half. I'm thankful to Joe for his coaching and passion to the sport of triathlon!
