More About Coach Jon
I first became a personal trainer in the early 1980's at Jack La Lanes European Health Spa where I worked for six years and bodybuilding was my main hobie. I have been an athlete most of my life. An AAU swimmer, I played pop warner football from 9 years old through 4 years in High School where I also ran track and wrestled. I worked for Spectrum Athletic Clubs in Canoga Park for 3 years before I went on my own in 2013. I am the "A" Team football coach at St. John Eudes Middle School in Chatsworth and have been for the past 4 years. My son became a black belt in Tae Kwon Do at the age of 8. I assisted in training him at Kings Tae Kwon Do in Chatsworth where he was apart of the national fighting team.
I am certified through NASM, National Academy of Sports Medicine, as a Certified Personal Trainer using the OPT method and NASM Certified Golf Fitness Specialist, Working with Youths and Neuromuscular Stretching. I hold a certification as an HKC HardStyle Kettlebell Certified and TRX Principles. I became a second degree green belt in Tae Kwon Don in 1992, I haven't stopped training with my son but stopped testing for belts after 1992.
My training sessions very depending on my clients needs, wants and physical conditioning. My training method is NASM's OPT which is a progress system. This helps avoid injuries and set backs. I always do a posture, movement and physical condition assessment before we go through the first workout, which also includes a medical and activity questioner. Every workout starts with the foam roll followed by a good static and active stretch. From there the workout varies with the clients needs. I always focus on proper posture, body alignment, and movement while my clients train. Functional movements exercise are done using various equipment such as, Kettlebells, TRX, dumbbells, Rage ball, stretch cords and kick paddles, bag punching and more.
As far as my specialties there are quite a few since I have been training for over 25 years. I have trained people in bodybuilding, martial arts, golfers (NASM Certified), young athletes, women, men from 13 year olds to my Dr. client of 75 that I have train for over the last 3 years. If you need to build strength or muscle, lose weight, firm and tone, increase your cardio efficiency, flexibility, balance, improve on you athletic ability or just you over all condition.
