More About Coach Jonathan

I have four years experience (2009-2013) coaching players of all levels -- from beginners to nationally ranked juniors -- at the Kent Denver tennis camps where I was an assistant tennis pro serving under head pro, Bion Salazar. I have coached players of all ages -- from 5 year olds to 70 year olds. I've trained at tennis academies all of the world and thus have an extensive knowledge of training and coaching techniques. While I love coaching players of all ages, I work best with up-and-coming junior players.

I was a high school state champion and nationally ranked player. Throughout my junior career I was always top 10 in the state of Colorado and was always highly ranked in the Intermountain section (2004-2010). Career highlights include placing fourth individually at number one singles at the state high school championships as a sophomore (2007), helping lead my high school (Kent Denver) team to back-to-back state championships (2008, 2009).

While I was recruited to play college tennis I decided to go to Harvard and focus on my academics and forego playing in college.

My previous experience coaching allows me to tailor a training session to the demands and needs of my players. My first focus is on a player's technique. Having trained with some of the most accomplished coaches in the world I have an astute and nuanced understanding of technique and a very broad knowledge of drill to help improve a player's technique.
A typical session would be multifaceted:
- Warmup: and assess the player's skills and needs for specific session
- Technique: drills targeted towards improving technique and skills
- Fitness: some specific fitness related drills -- cardio as well as bodyweight strength exercises
- Point play: End the session with competition to practice the skills and techniques we worked on in the session.
