More About Coach Jonathan
I started playing baseball in childhood in all toughest’s league’s through mid20s.
Played on every select
team starting at age 10, & travel team available , American Legion Post 41 just as I graduated 8th grade
from St. John’s the Baptist that’s when I started my journey. Which included playing with guys on way to
college or in H.S already or 1 yr of college under their belt but I started every game in RF, which I feel
lead up to me achieving high school & amp; college scholarships. Played Semi-Pro
baseball for 4 years
and then coached. I'm looking to continue coaching at Georgetown Day H.S in N.W as well be involved in the sport hopefully through my newest addition to the family graduation from college. As College Coaching & Professional Coaching is what,
I’m best at in every angle or aspect of the game.
As well I am up to date on new /current drills coaches are using as mine you can also take with you as these drills and techniques can only have about a HUGE IMPACT ON YOUR GAME!!!!!As Coaches today want that 5 tool player etc!! As yes; Technology has come a long way but their are 5 tools to have or work on before you go and spend that gadget money or say go ahead an buy or invest in a cage for son or daughter or yourself!!!!! By letting me help or evaluate your players or sons talent as a 3rd party!! Also teach and examine to see about where your Baseball IQ is at!! As well as Prep you up before any showcases so you’re hitting on all cylinders and fielding as well as throwing up to the maximum potential you have got.
This I do or try to do through drills all very old school, and easily learned now with that then the drills along with a age via;Bucky Dents Comparisons sheet with comparable #'s to be an above( avg.)average , mlb vs age and also time or swing/bat speed the bat to ball of a tee & finally we got to check speed as well. As running speed & how you run the bases an approach it all is such a huge aspect to the game. I graduated from and was asked to come for free & more-notoriety to attend Bucky’s Camp in H.S at G.C!! As it’s a great call to get to attend the school, I went as Junior and my Coach sent myself an 3 others from our Team as ended up becoming player #189 out of the top #500 college prospects an professional prospect of the class of 1995!
As that's the only way Alabama, LSU, CAL , UNLV, Stanford recruiters can here about you or your child is by exposure! So any way to go national & to an elite school like how these schools got to me is by being fundamentally sound an going into your senior year already on everyone’s radar as I player #189 out of 500 was in polls the @Top 500 College Prospects Of America" as a sophomore but junior year I broke out as I believed in myself. Ok so in or about a Players usually soph., junior year is when you need to start catching eyes!! So I’ll also help with that as I get calls and emails from recruiters who are interested in getting the next Harper or Judge.....
Now I am back around my old neighborhood and not leaving to teach kids the things I learned and worked for me as what didn’t as well. All I need to do is after 1 session I can tell you w/out looking or seeing it but just by the sound of the bat, what your doing wrong! As a hitting coach for a long time I better be if I want to stay above the rest. I also am a great outfielder coach.
As I have been to the elite levels as a player and a coach. Now for those who are in need of a primary specialist for those whom coaches are teaching them not anything new or making them better daily and just wasting time then call me.
Also as a former leadoff hitter I believe in teaching selective hitting , quicker bat speed , pulling the ball and if old enough and talented enough teach how to find the holes in field and how to practice patience and fundamental baseball. I do this by being able to teach them how to hit properly and then being able to spray the balls around the field. All I try to do is drill in as many ., fundamental baseball tricks and tools and show them new tricks or workouts they can do in front of mirrors or w/a friend or teammate. I do groups an have even done practices for schools to teach or evaluate talent.
All this has worked and still does and I should have my indoor cage up possibly 2/3 or 2w/1 pitching mound as did pitch in HS as well. Also one on my property in Colesville,MD. Or aka Silver Spring,MD!
Now at Our Lady Of Good Counsel our rivalry is a HS you may of heard DeMatha High School well both High Schools are well known as for their sports programs is what these and say St. John's HS College off military Rd in DC or Gonzaga another district competitor!! As sports that's what these schools are known for. As just about the whole team could play College baseball somewhere and every year a Minn. 65% of the schools athletic teams go on to College athletics on scholarship! I'd say that's a conservative number too. As I currently coach in The MAC! Metro Athletic Conference In N.W Washington,DC.
Now, Along with the drills and fundamentals!!
I'm always preaching on how always try to be a leader, always Hustle on and off show game respect as it will respect you!!
I feel a student of any age or whatever training a new coach always needs as much encouragement as we can give to our a players & getting them believing in themselves and knowing and seeing it in cages or thru drills in beginning or on the field that they can play is key.
Especially when only seeing 1 on 1, as we want to get trust going. An that's so I can get them to whatever the next level for them is and learn the proper way to use a wooden bat if necessary or even how to catch up faster pitching etc. I was on scholarship at Our Lady of Good Counsel also. So I was working already an blessed early . Also I did not want to go far from DC. So going to play in VA Beach was great. As I played not far from Washington,DC in ODAC. The Old Dominion Athletic Conference and started in Left Field as a Freshman..
Now my coaching exp. & baseball career have had me traveling so I have coached all over from S.C, PA, MD and NY! All levels I have coached!
I am talking about an youth leagues as a Volunteer, H.Coach in S.C and NY. Also Public 4A JV to High School in Western PA Hempfield H.S and Springbrook H.S in Silver Spring,Maryland.
As well as these 1 on 1 session's or small group's of players an then talented college players. I mainly try and see how you are one on one!!
Now while in PA, for only 2 years I took advantage of reduced tuition if I helped coach. This is when I went back to finish school, to get my teaching certificate for Elem. Edu. So I am not just a coach but I’m more of a teacher! So I can approach it like a great baseball lesson plan of the best thing I know BASEBALL. An then the drills and the drive to get it done really at all levels!!

As A Coach I Always Exemplify a Winning Attitude & Confindence, No Matter!TheImportance of the Game. I Teach Proper Mechanic's of Hitting & Fielding & Baserunning thru Drills etc. I incorporate some of my former teaching training from teaching special need students so patience I have. As I also work Basketball , Football Training Warm Ups always before getting started. As a lot of players don't even know how to warm up or stretch properly. This is why I teach this also so no injuries, as at Coachup we are covered.
I'm thinking long term. As I have seen a ton of great players hurt themselves in college etc by not doing the simple fundamental stuff the proper way FYI. I cover all the BASES⚾️
My Normal routine as baseball in a 1 on 1 situation is this as baseball is a game of repetition! I mean from remembering your stance to checklist I usually try to install into their heads, this is so when their up to bat they are not thinking about their swing and stance as it just becomes NATURAL. But then they are rather thinking about the count say 2-0, ok usually fastball down BROADWAY! Same goes for a 3-1 count, or THINKING WHILE AT BAT what is the best thing I can do to help the team or my job at the plate, BUNT,SAC.FLY ETC... As simply put like I stated earlier basically sound fundamental baseball that's what I teach as soon as we cross the white lines. I was a leadoff hitter almost every year, so I had to patient and be able to hit anything as well as run bases perfectly read the pitcher's motion etc., nowsometime's at different level's I would also bat say #2 or #3 or #5 in the order. As I had the pop off my bat and natural speed! Also when needed if coach needed to take me from centerfield to play 3rd base, yes sir coach or shortstop NP! So I have a ton of fielding and hitting drills. I usually like to hear about the student first then set up the session off that & what we need to work on & form a lesson plan timed out. So we can make the best use of our time..............Just for Coaches, I also teach the proper mechanics, situation baseball, drills if looking at upping your PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL SPORTS TEAM I DO TRAIN COACHES. Also help Dads work with say there own team or son's team get that a lot I say travel coaches great investment or Rec./CYO Coaches willing to up your baseball IQ etc. Another thing as a teacher of kids in school or on field teaching growing men how to grow the right way. My goal is always the same as I just look to take you to whatever level you want to get too!! As I'm working to benefit you!!
So Let’s Play Ball!!!!

I feel my son who loves working with Coach Kane has not only got my sons swing back but also his confidence is up👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🏋🏼👏🏽!!!The pop is back in his swing and now can spray the baseball as he was taught how to be a very select hitter! As we also got advice on maybe quicker bat by opening his front shoulder & lighter bat & standing up straight & just breath. Then as he also pointed us too a 31/28! Really nice & quick bat, as bat speed is 85% of hitting the ball hard and getting those hips to fly which thx coach he is doing. That's why I actually booked a 21 Pkg.deal.
This was great, He's one of the best instructors on hitting and how he relates to the youth!
As we plan to continue on using him as long as he's willing. I recommend the best see him, as not only is he a great coach but also a great guy!Starting SS, & leadoff and now off to play college ball D1 or D2!! When we first tried his system, I was thinking he's just doing drills but these were all old school like him. He will take your son or daughter to whatever level they want to get too. As once he commits he's all in.My son who transferred and is a senior at a new HS to new H.School where he had to battle and his swing was just not there, till Coach Kane showed him first drills to work on, as he was also working bat speed, tee drills hands thru zone drills, eye hand coordination drills calling out numbers while catching ping pong balls!!! Some I had never seen before he's worth every penny. We are all very pleased were talking about opening up a Hitting Factory in Brooklyn!!
So any tweaking no matter the age this guy has a Extremely High Baseball IQBaseball is a smarts mans game as you always have to be a step ahead of the other guy hitting the right pitch and he can tell you what was wrong by not even looking at his swing. Just sounds although we work on everything as Coach Kane could Coach anywhere as a Hitting Coach/Outfielders Coach or Head Coach anywhere in the U.S!! I've coached myself traveling great teams but he's really on another level.
Anna -Parent of player whose 11 (Testimonial)
Mr. Kane not only got my son his 1st hit but it was with the bases loaded and he even came to game to encourage him. He got his confidence back after not having hit all season then 2 sessions one with drills as he was falling over everywhere when he swings not after 2 sessions, and my son wants to keep going he should charge more. He is a great guy as he even went and picked out a bat that he thought would be better for my son. As well as taping it up for him then he was so excited had his confidence thanks to working out with Mr. Kane & the next game, he got two hits........I feel blessed. So does my son as we signed up for 5 sesssion pkg with just yesterday.
Yonni-Parent ex-player (Testimonial)
Coach Kane switched my son's whole stance and swing and finally he started hitting and not reaching for the ball. What can I say the force is strong with this JEDI!!! He also taught my son how to throw a few new pitches as he plays 3rd base and and 1st and pitches and Coach Kane showed him everything about how to play 1B, as this was his 1st year. we signed up for 5 sessions and are going back for another 5!!
