It is my passion to see every kid I work with grow as person in every dimension of life. Basketball is a tool use to construct our greatest dreams and become our best selves. I was able to use it to lift myself out of an extremely negative circumstamnce as a youth to go on to get a Bachelors degree from Alabama A&M university, then to travel for 6 years with my wife to play in China, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Ecuador, and Mexico. These accomplishments created the opportunity for me to coach at Langston Hughes High where we won The GHSA State Championship back to back 2016-2018 for Varsity Boys and also to get a Region Championship for the Varsity Girls. I now work for a non profit that provides opportunities for the youth of Westside Atlanta to use basketball to empower themselves emotionally, mentally, occupationally, and spiritually.

I am an Atlanta Georgia native, graduated from Tri-Cities High School (record of 27-2). I played 5 years of Division 1 Collegiate Basketball at Alabama A&M University. After college I have played in China, Uruguay (twice), Ecuador, Argentina, Chile, and Mexico (twice), along with semi-professional teams in America. I am an undersized small forward standing at 6'5. My stature skill and athleticism has allowed me to be efficient at any position on the floor and to have the expertise in order to tailor make anyone's game to their desire in just a matter of weeks. My life experiences and understanding of fundamentals has allowed me to translate great skill to any athlete, while strengthening their faith to overcome all obstacles.

Come join Coach J’s as he shares over 16 years of High Level Hoops Information/Inspiration in a Saturday morning immersion seminar. We will ask, apply, & become aware of the essentials it takes to get to the next level. We believe if we are going to pursue something with our whole hearts, we need the hands and heads of others to help. Not many professional athletes and coaches have had the time, the desire or the ability to reach back and help younger athletes on their journey but this opportunity has been provided by people who believe in those, who believe in their dreams. Great leadership and methods!

As a mom, I’m extremely observant... especially when it comes to my kids. I didn’t want to make it too obvious that I was mentally rating Coach J, but he exceeded my expectations. From watching him, I picked up that he teaches/coaches as a passion. My son is very picky too and even with that, I’ve learned that he has a certain learning style... not all coaches are good leaders and/or teachers. My son has been playing bball for FOUR years and even though some “coaches” say he’s “good”, Coach J assessed him, and I was shocked to see all my son did NOT know! In one session, my boy’s confidence was built. I’m ready to meet the beast...

Coach Jonathan was very personable and on the first session built a rapport with my son. He was very knowledgeable of the game and fundamentals.
