More About Coach Jonathan
10+ years training experience. Beginner to high school levels. Homeschool and high school levels. 5U-18U. 8th year THSBOA basketball official.
Ive been playing basketball ever since I was a child. Competed first at recreational level then AAU then High School. Competed 2 years in college one year at Texas Lutheran University and one year at Kingwood College. Awarded the Anish Patel Memorial Basketball Scholarship my senior year at Dulles High School. Presently I officiate at my local Texas middle schools and high schools. I am going into my 5th year as a THSBOA basketball official and have officiated some of my players basketball games.
Choosing me to be your shooting coach we will work on fundamentals/mechanics, rhythm for your catch and shoot, and rhythm for your shot off the dribble. We will work on dribble moves for you to create space or freeze your defender so you can shoot your shot. Also footwork going into your shot and quick release time. I will show you shooting drills to increase accuracy and also competitive shooting competitions if working out as a group. We will work on one on one and help defensive strategies because playing defense and getting stops is just as important as offense. We will have open communication so you can come up to me and say “coach j my shot is not going in, Last game I shot 6 shots and only made 2” then we will get on the floor and practice the shots you did make, in game time situation whether they be catch and shoot or shooting off the dribble, we will recreate those situations and practice what worked for you in more spots on the floor. Rhythm is just as important as mechanics/fundamentals and shooting within the flow of the game, good shot selection is important as well in order to having an accurate shooting night/day. Let’s have an open line of communication and be able to improve your basketball game. Group sessions receive a discounted rate.
