More About Coach Jonathan
I currently coach with NBT Soccer Academy, where I have accumulated two years of experience working with players at the classic level. In this role, I coach a wide range of age groups, from U9 through U18, which has allowed me to adapt my coaching style to meet the developmental needs of both younger players and older, more competitive athletes. My responsibilities include leading training sessions, focusing on technical development, tactical awareness, and overall player growth in a structured team environment.
In addition to my club experience, I coached at Copa Talento during the summer of 2025 in Richmond, Virginia, where I worked in a fast-paced camp setting and gained exposure to players with diverse backgrounds and skill levels. I have also been providing one-on-one private training for approximately one year, working with athletes of various ages. Through individual sessions, I tailor training plans to each player’s goals, emphasizing skill development, confidence, and game understanding.
I have had a successful athletic career at the collegiate level, competing at multiple institutions and contributing to winning programs. I began my college soccer career at Louisburg College, where I played a key role on a highly competitive team. During my time there, we won the conference championship twice, captured the district championship, and qualified for the national tournament, competing against top programs from across the country.
In addition to my playing experience, I gained valuable insight into the collegiate game by serving as a manager for the UNC Charlotte (UNCC) men’s soccer team. During that season, the team won the conference championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament, allowing me to learn from a Division I environment and understand the operational and leadership aspects of a high-level program.
I concluded my collegiate playing career at North Carolina Wesleyan, where I once again won a conference championship and qualified for the national tournament. I was also honored with the Sportsmanship Player of the Conference award, recognizing my leadership, character, and respect for the game.
A client can expect a structured, engaging, and personalized training session that is tailored to their age, skill level, and individual goals. Each session typically begins with a dynamic warm-up focused on mobility, coordination, and injury prevention to properly prepare the athlete’s body. From there, I emphasize technical development through focused drills such as ball mastery, first touch, passing accuracy, dribbling under pressure, and finishing techniques. As the session progresses, I incorporate game-like scenarios and small-sided activities to help athletes apply their skills in realistic situations while improving decision-making and confidence. Conditioning is blended into the session through high-intensity drills that build speed, agility, and endurance without sacrificing technical quality. I also provide constant feedback, encouragement, and corrections to ensure athletes understand what they are doing and why. Each session ends with a brief cool-down and reflection, reinforcing progress and identifying areas for improvement moving forward.
