More About Coach Jonathan

I have been teaching hitting and pitching lessons at the field house in concord for about a year now. Although I have not been an actual coach for a team, I have been doing these lessons! I have coached 6 year old tee ballers, all the way to seniors in college. Besides working at the field house, I have also done lessons at my house. At this moment I do not have any industry certifications! As I am still very new to coaching and doing lessons due to recently being released from the Chicago White Sox. I am very serious in making this a career! Coaching has been a huge passion of mine since I was a little kid. I love being in a baseball environment helping kids have fun while getting better every single day. My whole family has always been very into sports, my grandpa playing professional baseball for 12 years, dad playing college football, and my mom swimming. I wanted to follow into my grandpas footsteps of becoming a major league ball player but happened to fall just short. As one door closes another opens and I am extremely excited to get into the coaching world and pass on my knowledge that I have learned from college and the White Sox to you kids, the future of baseball!!

After high school I went to los medanos junior college, where I won MVP my freshman year, and won 1st team all conference my sophomore year. I got a full ride scholarship to play at the University of San Francisco! After my senior year I got drafted by the Chicago White Sox. Unfortunately I recently got released due to covid 19 outbreak and the White Sox not having enough funds to hold onto a lot of players. I also won athlete of the year at Clayton Valley high school in the year 2015. Besides playing just baseball, I also played basketball all of high school. Played on varsity for 3 years and had scholar ships to play in college. Of course I stood with baseball instead of basketball and ended my basketball career back at Clayton valley.

Before every lesson with a new client, I love to get to know the individual, and learn all about what he or she is trying to accomplish. Whether that is in this one lesson or the long run. I always like to have a plan with each kid because that will give us something to work towards. The first thing I will have them do is hit off a tee. Tee work is very important in every age group no matter how old. This is where mechanics and adjustments are made. It’s also where I will be able to detect weaknesses in the persons swing, and also strengths. After tee work we will move into front toss. This is where you connect all the adjustments you made from tee work over to front toss. After that will be live batting practice. I will throw to kids and get them as many live reps as possible. Remember, the more practice in batting practice the better the player will be. At the end of the lesson we will do some sort of game to end with some fun. Also, through out the lessons, there will be many drills I will have the kids work on determining what there weaknesses intail. All of these drills will be things I have learned from college or the White Sox. They are not drills that you will see in little league or high school.
