More About Coach Jonathan
My coaching is based on the principles I learned from my former coaches, and incorporates drills, agility training, and techniques I find helpful in developing players for the next level.
I enjoy working with players of all ages and levels. I specialize in footwork, proper arm throw, speed training, stealing, outfield movement, batting, and game play scenarios. I focus on teaching the fundamentals of the game while helping them grow into an elite athlete.
I begin each lesson with a dynamic warm up, followed by a good stretch. Depending on the athlete I begin with Defensive drills, pinpointing the need for development and I follow that up with game situation. When my athlete is ready, I begin working on offense; I break down the swing from bottom to top and adjust where I see necessary. A round or two of batting practice will be followed by base running and baseball theory. I like to end each lesson by giving my athlete recommendations on what I believe they need to work on. I want my athlete to feel an immediate concrete improvement in his or her game.
I have been playing baseball for the past 18 years. I have made 5 all star teams, and have a national AAU championship. I've played semi professional baseball for the Scottsdale Dodgers and was named Rookie of the year in 2009. I currently play for the Tampa Angels and lead in stolen bases and batting average.
