More About Coach John
I have coached ages 11-14 at Total Baseball Academy as well as a few baseball camps in High School and at Sonoma State University. Comfortable with all ages and know how to communicate well with all ages and adapt to each players abilities. I am certified in First Aid/CPR.
I have excelled at the High School level, Junior College level, and the 4-year University level. In high school I was All-League and pitched at Dodger Stadium in the City finals. My first year in Junior College I led the pitching staff in Wins, Saves, and Appearances, and I led starters in ERA. My second year I led the staff in Saves, Appearances, and Complete games with a 3.8 ERA. At Sonoma State University I led starters in ERA and was 7th in the CCAA conference with a 3.3 ERA. I led my Staff in Wins with a 4-1 record, my last 4 starts were no decisions and each time I came out I was in line for the win. I have received numerous All-Conference awards but the most important awards that I have earned are my coaches awards, given to the player who demonstrates great leadership and work ethic on the field.
I believe that location and movement are more important than velocity and I also take arm care and stretching very seriously. I fully believe in and have great knowledge of Tom House's National Pitching Association workouts. I focus on the fundamentals of pitching including balance and release points but I like to work with the players' strengths. Everyone's delivery is different and I do not believe in standardizing one. In a session I would take them through a stretching session, then getting into long toss, then shortening down for a quick flat ground session to work on getting your arm on top of the ball, then move to the mound for a bullpen session. Lastly will be arm care to ensure that players can have longevity and good health.

I love what you do on the field, but I love what you do even more off the field
