More About Coach Joel
I have experience working with individuals of all ages and fitness levels. I've worked with our country’s top athletes as a strength and conditioning coach at Athletes’ Performance and with the Los Angeles Clippers of the NBA. As the head trainer for one of fitness's premier club chains, I have also worked with hundreds of gym-goers.
I have a Master’s degree in Exercise Science from California University of Pennsylvania, advanced certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association and the National Academy of Sports Medicine, and am certified through Precision Nutrition and Functional Movement Systems.
I use a dynamic approach of increasing flexibility, improving mobility, building strength and endurance, and reducing risk for injury to lead everyone I work with to a healthier way of life.
I attended undergraduate school at Queens University of Charlotte and played for the men's basketball and tennis team. After college I spent 4 seasons from 2004 - 2007 working as a jackman on NASCAR pit crews. My most memorable races were in 2007 at Mexico City and St. Louis where we won races with Juan Pablo Montoya and Reed Sorenson.
It was after the 2007 season that I went back to school to complete my master's degree in exercise science and began my career in the health and wellness field.
We will begin every workout program with a fitness assessment. These assessments include a movement analysis combined with some baseline stats including weight, body fat %, blood pressure, and circumference measurements when applicable. We will also discuss your goals and past exercise and medical history. Based on everything that we conclude I will design a workout program that is specific to the individual.
