More About Coach Jessica

I coach fastpitch softball players of all skill levels (ages 6-college+). My primary focus is on pitching and batting (power hitting/ increase bat speed & slapping). However, I also teach overhand throwing and baserunning/fielding.

I give lessons at Az Grip N Rip as well as independently at many local parks and fields throughout the valley.

I have done numerous clinics for pitching and batting for the Chandler Girls Softball League as well as Queen Creek, Casa Grande and Ahwatukee.

I started playing when I was 11 years old. I have played on some of the top Arizona and California teams. At age 15, I was flown to California for practices and games so that I could compete at the highest level of competition.

I played 18-Gold when I was 15 and competed in many Women's National and Major Tournaments. In these tournaments we faced numerous Team USA players (and soon-to-be Team USA players) as well as other National Teams. We always held our own.

I went to Mountain Pointe High School in Phoenix, Arizona. I earned First Team All State Pitcher ('99)and First Team All State Utility Player('98). I lead the state in most HRs, triples, doubles, and RBIs. I was Player of the Year for Softball('99). We won (I pitched) the 5A State Title in 1999 and we were in the final four the years prior. We (Mountain Pointe) were ranked 4th in the country in '98 and 2nd in the country in '99 by the NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association).

I was recruited by many top schools but chose to go to Hawaii. I played softball for 4 years and then followed my passion for teaching. I moved back to Arizona and taught preschool as well as studied Nutrition at ASU. I'm passionate about softball, teaching and nutrition.I currently play and manage a team (for an 18 & Up league) at Kiwanis Park in Tempe.

My sessions consist of going through the mechanics, step by step. I have the student do the steps with me in order to help them understand what their body should be doing and to ensure it is correct. (If it is pitching) Then I have the pitcher throw (to me or their catcher) and as they throw I am observing and helping them recognize where we need to correct as well as recognizing what is good or great about it. If it's hitting, I go over the mechanics. I demonstrate and help them with their form. I have them swing their bat and assist them before they even hit off the tee. Then there is a lot of tee work because the tee is the most valuable tool to learn how to swing correctly. After tee, we would move to other drills and I pitch to them as well (whiffles/softballs depending on age and skill level). Fielding, throwing and base-running are all similar in that I demonstrate and participate in each of the areas. There is a lot of repetition on the proper mechanics. I also cover mental toughness and confidence as some players struggle with those. It is the whole athlete that I am training and I strive to (positively) motivate and encourage players to try their best, work hard and have fun!

Coach Jessica was great with our 7 year old daughter getting her started with the fundamentals of pitching. She was very sweet, patient, and made the lesson fun. Jessica is very knowledgeable and is a great teacher! Would recommend her to anybody who wants to develop and get great one on one instruction. We can't wait to have more sessions and see our young daughter start developing into a great softball pitcher and player.

Wow! Really great personality and tips! Learned lot and will definitely keep meeting with her.

I was impressed by Coach Jessica early fundamental instruction with my 10 year old Granddaughter. Look forward to Thanksgiving pitching and slash hit training. Thank you

Coach Jessica is a great coach! Her patience with my daughter was phenomenal! Within seconds of watching her swing the bat, Jessica was able to correct minor things that made major improvements after ONE session!! I would recommend Jessica to anyone who has been considering hiring a coach for themselves or their child!!

Jessica is amazing! Our daughter clicked with her right away and she has learned so much already! Jessica has a great personality and her love for softball shines through. :)

We just completed our first lesson with Coach Jessica last week. I asked her to evaluate my daughters swing so she can get a little more pop out of her bat...she tweaked a few things and you can already see the difference in the team batting practice. We will definitely be booking more hitting sessions with her. Also, she is very nice and my daughter really enjoyed her first lesson and asked me if we can schedule more lessons with her.

Jessica was great! Just what my daughter needed.. she definitely is experoenced and great with kids!!

Awesome working with you

My 12-year old daughter somehow made her middle school varsity softball team without ever having played a game of softball in her life. Natalie is naturally athletic, but of course she was in immediate need of a crash course in some fundamentals. I booked a 1-hour session for her with Jessica, and can honestly say that was the best possible decision I could have made to get Natalie on the right track, and give her the confidence she needs at this point. Jessica did an amazing job of assessing Natalie's strengths and weaknesses; she used that knowledge, combined with input from both Natalie and me, to custom-tailor the session perfectly - afterwards, although I can't speak for Jessica, I'm confident that all three of us left satisfied that all of our goals and expectations had been met! Also, although Natalie is an absolute beginner now, it's clear that Jessica has the talent, skill, experience, and coaching ability to bring out the best in Natalie as she gains experience and develops her skills to whatever level she chooses. Natalie loved her time with Jessica! She really is a one-in-a-million coach. We will definitely be booking more sessions.

Coach Jessica was fantastic to work with for my 13yo daughter. She was energetic, relatable and definitely able to break things down for her and show her some new things, even though she's been pitching awhile. We both enjoyed her session and knowledge of the position/game! Would recommend Coach Jessica!!

Coach Jessica was awesome! My daughter is 6 years old and athletic, however, she's still 6. So the attention span, confidence, and focus is a bit of a challenge at times. However, Coach Jessica was very patient, and knowledgeable. After 1 session, my daughter said that she loved it. I think Coach Jessica has found a steady client.

Our ten year old daughter was struggling in batting and had only one hit all season. She needed additional help outside of team practices but having no softball experience ourselves our attempts to help were inadequate. In the first game after our session with Jessica we saw immediate results with our daughter hitting in a line drive. We loved how Jessica would find ways to adjust the lesson if she felt our daughter wasn’t understanding but never lost her patience or upbeat attitude. Jessica was great in answering any questions and took time to explain drills so we could continue helping our daughter at home. Our daughter has requested scheduling additional session to work on other areas of her game. Our family highly recommends Jessica if you are looking for an outstanding coach!

Update: Tonight was our second game after our only coaching session. Our daughter hit every time she was at bat! Hugh confidence boost and she is excited to see her working hard paying off.

Coach Jessica was awesome! She was super flexible with her schedule. My daughter was very comfortable with her and excited to keep going. She took time to explain things, provided relatable examples and made sure my daughter understood. I would highly recommend her as a batting coach.
