More About Coach Jerrud

I am dedicated to giving you the best coaching experience possible. I have coached athletes from little league to college. I have learned from and played alongside many big-league players and I feel confident instructing hitting, infield, outfield, and even pitching. I played infield and outfield at the professional level, and I pitched in college.

I recently retired from 5 years of professional baseball. I played with the Cleveland Indians organization, where I made it to the AA level. I competed at the D1 collegiate level at Indiana University, where I own the school's all-time hits record with 332 hits. I also have a B.S. in Biology from Indiana. My other accomplishments in baseball include Freshman All-American, All-Region, and All Big-Ten honors at Indiana and being selected for Baseball America's best defensive first-baseman (Low-A, Indians), the Carolina League All-Star team (High-A, Indians) and hitting for the cycle (High-A, Indians).

I will first find out what you would like to work on or what areas you think you need some improvement. From there, I will use the lesson time to assess and then develop an individual plan for you! I do not believe in a "cookie-cutter" swing, throwing motion, or fielding mechanics. As every person's physique gives rise to unique mechanics, I will help each athlete to make the most of what they have. I believe repetition of good habits and consistency is key! While each session will be structured, I will also try to incorporate a competition or game to make the session fun.

Jerrud did a great job and showed my 19 year old some new ideas. He was prepared and you could tell he had picked up a lot of knowledge from his D1 and professional experience. Plus, when you look at his playing career it adds to his credibility. He was a very good player at a level that most don't reach. Would definitely recommend him.

Coach Jerrud really helped my 12 y.o. son feel more confident with his baseball skills. The lessons were evenly balanced and well thought out to cover both throwing/catching and hitting techniques. Jerrud was very supportive and encouraging. Wonderful role model!

I hired Coach Jerrud to help get my 9yo son ready for the upcoming Spring season after taking some time off for soccer. As predicted, during the first session, my son was a bit rusty but Jerrud eased him back into thinking about his mechanics and form. Lots of praise gave him confidence to start picking up where he left off at the end of last season. In the second session, Jerrud put together a couple customized drills for my son to work on to boost his infield abilities and also gave him some key instruction in the batting cages to build consistency in his swing and give him some insight on how to turn any pitch into a potential base hit. My son is really enjoying working with Coach Jerrud and I've been impressed with his instruction and ability to engage and challenge him in a way that keeps the instruction meaningful and yet fun.
