More About Coach Jason

I have been coaching basketball for 35 years. I have been a head varsity basketball coach for 25 of those seasons. As a head coach, I have won 13 league titles, and the Division 1 CIF SS Championship in 2016. In my coaching career, I have trained over 60 athletes that have gone on to play college level basketball, professional ball in Europe and Israel, two players in the WNBA, and three that have played in the NBA.

Currently, I am the Athletic Director at St. Monica Academy in Montrose where I am rebuilding the Girls Basketball Program.

I am a Certified Teacher in both California and Florida.

My specialty as a private coach is preparing students in Jr. High and Lower Level High School athletes for Varsity Basketball. As a varsity head coach, I know what skills athletes must have when entering high school that varsity high school coaches are looking for. Athletes must, obviously, become well grounded in the fundamentals, but also must learn to understand team concepts, both offensively and defensively.

As an athlete, I was actually a baseball player in college. I attended California State University Northridge as a walk on baseball player. The highlight was being the only one of 67 players who attended the walk on tryout. I played two seasons, before getting in to the coaching profession, where I have spent the past 35 years working.

A typical one hour session plan for a single athlete with a focus plan on offensive skills would look like this:
