More About Coach Jasmine
My name is Jasmine Young, I'm from Richmond, Virginia where I currently reside. I have over 18 years of playing experience. I've played basketball since the tender age of seven. After graduating from Monacan High School I went on a four year basketball scholarship where I played at East Carolina University. After graduating I continued my basketball career and went and played basketball professionally overseas for three seasons, playing in Puerto, Poland, and Germany. During the off seasons I ran basketball camps at American Family Fitness Midlothian where I go over the basic fundamentals of the game such as shooting form, rebounding, passing, boxing out, and defensive drills. I cover all aspects of the game thru both individual and group activities. I work with a group of youth ranging from ages 6-17. After completing my final season of playing basketball in November of 2011 I joined the coaching staff at Powhatan High School as the varsity girls assistant basketball coach. Depending on the age and the needs of the client it will depend on what type of drills and exercises I will focus on. I'm very encouraging, but at the same time want to see my clients excel and have fun while creating a learning atmosphere.

First I would like to do an assessment going thru stationary ball handing drills, full court ball handling drills, lay-ups, pull up jump shots, set shots, and free throws paying close attention to form. I would also do a series of footwork drills using cones, the ladder, and dot drill.
