More About Coach Jaquel

I am licensed by the Arizona State Boxing and MMA Commission as a "Professional Boxing Trainer". I have worked full time as a West Coast-based boxing trainer who rose to prominence guiding some of the sport’s best boxers. I was an amateur boxer for five years. I've trained amateur boxers for many years and trained some of the best boxers in the world . I developed various amateur boxers from scratch into tournament winners. I learned to box from my cousin, former heavyweight champion of the world Michael Dokes. My biological father is Terrence Dokes. My Coaching Experience Started 8 years ago. I started as a boxing coach, but I wanted to learn more. I decided to expand my education and became a Certified Personal Trainer, and it widened my knowledge as a trainer and opened new opportunities for me. I’ve taught boxing classes as well as one on one training. I’ve aided athletes that need to improve their cardio, weight loss, or preparation before getting in the ring. I have worked with beginner and advanced boxers, and I have trained boxing classes as well as one on one boxers! Several of the boxers that we trained have gone to compete as well! I've trained amateur boxers for many years and trained some of the best boxers in the world. I started coaching amateurs, I obtained my certifications and devoted myself to the program and teaching the young kids and helping them. It made me start reaching for another goal as a coach, "I have coached amateur boxers for about eight years. I have oversaw the development and performance of various amateur boxers , as well as preparing junior and youth boxers to make a successful transition from the grassroots level to the elite ranks. I have coached athletes from the intermediate to even the beginner realm.. I coached at a private gym that I rented from 2015-2020. While at my private gym I was considered the head coach so I had the opportunity of coaching other fighters and teaching them the fundamentals of boxing. I gained experience coaching from competition fighters to gym members who were just looking to stay fit. Coaching sessions consisted of one-on-one sessions and class sessions ranging from age 1 to 18. Classes would consist of 20 boxers and I would lead them through exercises and drills. Drills would consist of jab, hook, and uppercut combos. I also incorporated jump rope techniques and speed development. In addition, I've used diverse equipment during my training sessions including punching bags, speed bags, punch/strike shields, and more. My specialty is working with young fighters, focusing on striking and footwork. I love to teach young kids the skills needed to be a dedicated and hardworking boxer. My Goal is to assist you with obtaining your objectives and aspirations. I teach advanced skills to boxers and I am able to guide beginner boxers. I have the proper equipment to train boxers. Clients should expect a positive, fun and rewarding experience as well as customized programming designed to help them reach their unique health and fitness goals. The can also expect safety to be a number one priority. I will insure proper mechanics of each exercise and will ensure that you are performing each with correct form, thus maximizing the efficiency of your workouts. I also promise enhanced motivation. All programs begin with a light to moderate warm up including upper & lower body. Strength and conditioning follows along with technique drills and punch mitts. Different modalities will be utilized.

* BOXING and Weight loss...BOXING specifically targeted to weight loss can help you burn more calories. BOXING also requires engaged core, upper body and lower body muscles.

* Everlast F.I.T. is an approach to fitness that combines traditional fight sports training with functional full-body strength and conditioning and enables you to enhance your skills and training.

All the muscles of the upper arms are used during boxing. The triceps aid the deltoids (shoulder muscles) in throwing punches such as the jab and cross, while the biceps stabilize the arms during hooks and help retract the arms quickly after all punches.

* It is well known that compound, whole body movements typical of KETTLEBELL exercises are superior to machines that isolate muscles for improving muscle tone, body composition, and strength. Further, KETTLEBELLS strengthen the tendons and ligaments, making the joints tougher and less susceptible to injury.

* The BALL SLAM works your shoulders, triceps, abdominals, quads, glutes, calves and back. Repeating the exercise will increase your heart rate and burn more calories.

* Improve explosive power with MEDICINE BALL movements. MEDICINE BALL training has been around since the ancient Greeks discovered health benefits from exercising with weighted balls. It is one of the oldest forms of strength and conditioning used to improve health,, explosive power, and speed.

* Jumping rope, even at avery moderate rate burns 10 to 16 calories a minute. Work your JUMP ROPE exercise into three 10-minute rounds and you're looking at 480 calories in half an hour. Ten minutes of skipping rope is about equivalent to running an 8-minute mile.

* The TRX SUSPENSION TRAINER reduces time spent pacing from one training station to another if you want to train different parts of the body. The core is challenged in every exercise. The core includes pelvis, abs, back and chest muscles. It is the core that improves your body stability, balance and flexibility.

* TRX RIP TRAINER exercises are among those considered to improve cardiovascular health, meaning there is an enhanced transport of blood to your working muscles. With this, your body better utilizes energy with the improved efficiency of the metabolic pathways, making you burn calories even after a workout is complete.

* BATTLE ROPES are often thought of as a tool for your upper body, which they are. However, their benefits don't end there. BATTLE ROPES work the muscles in your abs, back, and glutes and you can incorporate movements, such as jumps, lunges, and squats, that work your legs too.

* A staple training tool for the military, martial artists and strongmen, the SANDBAG is often associated as a tool in elite performance for male athletes. The SANDBAG isn't just for the boys though, women should also consider SANDBAG training to improve cardio, strength, endurance and flexibility.

* BOSU stands for "Both Sides Up" or "Both Sides Utilized." With a flat platform on one side and a rubber dome on the other (resembling half an exercise ball), it can help you improve your balance and flexibility, sharpen your reflexes, and reshape your body. In the first session I will evaluate your skills and set up a program that fits your needs. I will assist you on the speed bag, heavy bag, timing bag, shadow boxing, jump rope, mitts, body conditioning, and other training as needed. I like to work with clients on form and technique. It is imperative for me to conduct a proper warm up to ensure maximum performance and safety. I will begin a session with full body stretches and 2-3 rounds of jump roping to get the body loose. The first drill will be 3-4 rounds of shadow boxing to help improve footwork and speed. The next drill will be 4-6 rounds of mitt work to work on helping with technique and accuracy. The next drill would be 4-6 rounds with a boxing shield to improve strength and conditioning. I believe it is very important to incorporate basic exercises such as squats, push ups, and sit ups between drills to get a full body workout. I like to conclude the workout with another 2 rounds of jump roping and sprints.

If you cannot keep your session time, I need a notice within 24 hours of the initially intended scheduled session.

Client Reviews

Coach Jacquel has been amazing with my son. His speed and agility have increased in just a few sessions together -- we will definitely be continuing to work with Coach Jacquel. He's always on time, extremely professional and my son has a lot of fun in his sessions. Definitely a 5-star review!

Great Session

Coach Pitts was great and exactly what my son needed … someone to push him and help him to improve his speed. My son enjoyed his first session and was very eager to schedule the next. Coach Pitts was punctual and easy to coordinate the session with. I would recommend Coach Pitts for your child’s speed and agility training.

Coach was great. He came with a great plan and worked my son out!! Super professional and patient. Overall, amazing

Great job.

Coach Jacquel is So Knowledgeable and Extremely Patience! My son left his 1st Training Full of Confidence and Could Not Wait to Reschedule with Coach Jacquel!

In terms of efficiency he doesn’t waste a minute. My 12 year old son loved the session and can’t wait for the next one. To be fair, must have highly motivated kid, but if you do your lucky, Jaquel is a diamond!

Coach was great Nathan was able to realize some things that he’s doing wrong , I would highly recommend him to some of my other kids . And my son is anxious to get the next session in.

Great session, son loved it.

Excellent Coach. Gets right to work and adds value every moment he is with our son. He is extremely positive and encouraging. My son loves training with him. Fantastic experience with him. He is very punctual, organized and responsible. Unbelievable value.

Very technical and great instruction for young QB.

My son really enjoys the time he spends with Coach Jaquel. He is super knowledgeable and patient. We are both happy we found him.

Great session he has lots of patients. My son is more confident In his self after only the first session. We will definitely be booking with coach Pitts again.

Real technical and I felt I got better in my session

Great Coach!

Coach Jaquel is reliable, motivating and easy to communicate with. He works hard to provide my son with variety and support and assesses his skill level well. Definitely going to work with him through the season.

Updated 9/20/2019: He is not NFL Alumni!! He didn’t even get playing time in a community college! I used to think he’s just not good but now obviously there’s something wrong with his characteristics!

What a liar! Do not train with him!

Doesn’t really know what he’s doing. Arrived late and postponed the session for an hour an half.

Told him what I want to work on, ignored me. Spent a long time on warm up although I told him I am already warmed since I arrived early. Took me through some drills that’s doesn’t really translate into the game. Towards the end I ask him to do some football workout he said times up. waste of my time and money, learned absolutely nothing.

Overall Jaquel isn’t really a good coach for HS kids because he doesn’t really know much. If you’re in high school I do not recommend working with him

Also bugged me for 3 days to write him a review, although I already did it on the day of our session.

Great first private session with coach Pitts. My son learned a lot, way more than from his usual team practices. We will definitely book more time with coach Pitts.

My son Joaquin just had his first football session with coach Pitts and it was a great first session. He was able to correct his football stance, his footwork, and give him pointers on proper running technique. Joaquin is already asking when his next session with coach Pitts is going to be. I highly recommend coach Pitts to anyone who is trying to give their son or daughter an edge.

First of, Coach Pitts was very professional. I’ve been around a lot of football in my 39 years. I immediately saw that he knew his stuff. I have two sons in High School who are pretty good at football so I saw how Coach Pitts knew how to tailor the training to my son’s skill set which is high level high school training to moderate college training. Secondly, Coach Pitts had a great attitude, he knew when to encourage and when to provide more emphasis so my son could focus. Lastly, Coach Pitts was very punctual with the whole session, understanding in my questions as a parent, and most of all my son enjoyed the training. I would highly recommend Coach Pitts and we will be booking future sessions with him.

He’s good

Coach Jaquel is a great coach. He is extremely patient and well knowledged on football techniques. My son is looking forward to his next session.

My son is a 9 year old soccer player that we wanted to get to focus more on his body mechanics. We found Jaquel and explained the situation and agreed to train him for track & field. The first session we arrived to the agreed location only to find out that he did not have access to the field. No worries, we found a park nearby. Unfortunately there was little to no communication with my son or us beyond the few emails/txts we exchanged. Once the session started we were impressed. I liked his style and had my son start with some very basic fundamentals which he needed. Again, after the session there was little to no communication other than "he did a good job". I was fine with this at this because my son did take away some useful pointers that he started to use immediately in games and practices. I felt a few more months of training could prove really valuable, however, scheduling was an issue. Early on we let Jaquel know that sundays would work best, and he said wouldn't be a problem. We attempted to schedule a second session and he cancelled. The following week (now week 3) we met up again and my son had a great session. We tried to schedule a 3rd session 2 additional times, 2 weeks in a row and cancelled both times. Overall I think Jaquel has great potential and very knowledgeable but needs to work on his people skill, communication and professionalism. No hard feelings, and I wish him the best.

Coach Jaquel is a magnificent coach !

Coach Jaquel is extremely patient with my son who has coordination issues and is starting from a very low level of playing. He was kind and unrushed as he worked with him and was intuitive to my sons needs.

Coach Jaquel was excellent with my boys. He made sure he listened and understood each of them so he can help them individually improve their weaknesses. They are both happy to have him trained them and we can not wait to schedule our next meeting. Thank you Coach.

First training session with Coach Jaquel was a success. My son really enjoyed his first day. My son can’t wait for the next one

Coach Jaquel was great with my son. It was the first training session. Jaquel taught some core fundamentals of the QB position. As I watched the session, I saw movements that college and pro QBs must've learned as a youth and continue to use. Thanks Jaquel - we'll be booking more trainings.

Coach Jacquel was awesome. Very mythical in his training. I know this is the guy who will take me to the next level. Can’t wait for our next session.

Coach Jaquel is a wonderful coach! He arrived early, he was very professional & stared working with my son immediately. The training looked intense & was very different from the training that my son receives at H.S.
Coach Jaquel seemed to understand how to appropriately train for specific positions in order to produce optimal ergormance.
My son was more excited after the training than before it began & he looks forward to training with Coach Jaquel again!

Coach Pitts was really good. I saw immediate improvements after an hour of training with him. I also noticed that he knew how to coach football and what to do to help my son improve and learn some techniques. My son is looking forward to his next training session.

Coach Pitts is a super positive and knowledgeable trainer who helps you improve at everything you work on with him.

Coach Jaquel is great. He gave my 14 year old son helpful tips and drills to improve his skills at wide reciever. He corrected him when he needed too and gave my son postive encouragement. My son said " I learned how to become an overall great player." My son enjoyed his session with Coach Jaquel and I look foward to continuing my sons training with Coach Jaquel.

Jaquel is all around a great man and coach! He's been working with my 12 yr old son for a while to hone both his qb and wide receiving skills. Jaquel is so positive and encourages my son in so many ways! He's a terrific role model for him, too. I highly recommend Jaquel for coaching any position
Your child plays or wants to play.

Coach Pitts is an excellent coach. He pays a very significant amount to attention to detail coupled with an elite level of experience he can speak to. Coach Pitts is extremely organized with his drills, while custom tailoring sessions depending on what I need to work on. His passion and encouragement coupled with his experience and perfectionist mindset makes him a coach that will elevate your game to a another level. I highly recommend.
