More About Coach James

I am a 2012 graduate of the College of Wooster, an NCAA Division III school, where I was a four-year letterman on the varsity lacrosse team. Prior to Wooster I played varsity lacrosse at Towson HIgh School and have been paying lacrosse since I was 5 years old. In addition to playing for my high school and college, I also played internationally for California USA in the 2006 World Games Open Division, and in their 2008 Pacific Tour. I continue to play lacrosse in the American Lacrosse League, the Scott Boyle Summer League, and at various tournaments. In addition to my playing experiences, I am an assistant coach and defensive coordinator for Bitmore Lacrosse Clubs U13 team and Catonsville High School's Varsity team.

I love lacrosse and enjoy being able to pass my passion for the game on to players of all ages. I have experience volunteering with local youth programs while I was in high school as well as helping out local kids in one-on-one sessions during college. I also have experience as a Baltimore County substitute teacher. Although I play defense and long stick midfield I am well versed in all aspects of the game. Defensive positioning, shooting and passing mechanics, dodging, feeding, and basic fundamentals such as throwing and catching. I am open to work with all age groups from those who are just starting out to high school athletes.

I start my sessions with dynamic stretching then move into a tailored workout based upon the athletes age and skill level. For younger athletes who are just starting out in their local youth programs I begin with fundamental based activities to help them start to develop these skills. I then take a wholistic approach to their session with drills that help strengthen offensive and defensive skills. For older athletes who have become more specialized I tailor their sessions to their specific positions. Each session will include agility and conditioning drills to help the athletes develop the athletic skills to help them succeed at the next level.

My goal is not only to help athletes succeed at their current level of competition but to prepare them to succeed at the next level. Be it the transition from rec. lacrosse to high school or high school to college through tailored drills that will have an immediate impact on their game.

Client Reviews

(no details provided)

My son (4th grade) has had several great sessions with James working on stick and shooting skills. Would definitely work with James again and would recommend him to anyone wanting to improve their lacrosse game.

Coach James did a wonderful job with my son. He just turned 8 and James had a great rapport with him. I've never seen him so coach-able before this. After one session, I could see a big difference in my son's knowledge of the game as well as a big improvement in his skills. I could see the progress from the beginning of the lesson till the end. We will definitely be signing up for more sessions.
