More About Coach Jakob
I am a UEFA B–licensed soccer coach with experience in both team and individual player development. In Germany, I coached a U15 team in the Verbandsliga, the second-highest competitive level for that age group. This role involved planning and leading training sessions, supporting players’ technical and tactical development, and preparing the team for competitive matches.
I have also provided individual coaching to youth athletes and college-level players, focusing on first touch, ball control, passing, finishing, positional awareness, decision-making, and confidence. I typically work with players from approximately 11 years old through college age, adapting each session to the athlete’s experience, position, and personal development goals.
I have competed at both the elite youth level in Germany and the collegiate level in the United States. During my youth career, I earned multiple awards recognizing me as one of the best athletes in my age group. I also had the opportunity to train with the Bundesliga youth program of FC Carl Zeiss Jena, gaining experience in a highly competitive professional academy environment.
I currently play college soccer in the United States. During my collegiate career, I received KCAC Honorable Mention recognition and helped my team qualify for the NAIA National Tournament in the same season.
Each session is adapted to the player’s position, current ability, and specific development goals. I normally begin with fundamental technical work, such as first touch, ball control, passing, dribbling, or movement with the ball. This allows the player to build confidence and focus on correct technique before progressing to more demanding exercises.
The session then develops into game-realistic drills that target the player’s individual needs. For example, a winger may work on receiving in wide areas, one-on-one situations, crossing, cutting inside, and finishing. A defender may focus on positioning, footwork, passing under pressure, one-on-one defending, and defensive decision-making.
Throughout the session, I provide clear feedback and adjust the level of difficulty based on the player’s performance. The goal is not only to improve technique, but also to help the athlete apply those skills effectively in realistic match situations.
