More About Coach Jakob
I have coached at the Junior College level for 4 years, both as a head coach and as an assistant coach. I have worked at both Central Wyoming College and Coffeyville Community College. I also have worked for Downtown United Soccer Club in Manhattan, NY as a head coach for their summer program. Typically I work with college-age athletes but with DUSC I worked with ages 8-14. I also recently started doing goalkeeping sessions with Northeast Oklahoma Football Club, working with athletes ages 13-17. I am in the process of finishing up my USSF D Level Coaching License.
I was captain of my high school soccer team at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School. I played for Downtown United Soccer Club in elementary school and played in the Downtown Soccer League K-12.
In terms of goalkeeping I will break the concept down into 4 sections; handling, distribution, reactions and diving/mobility. We usually start with a 15 minute warm up consisting of some reaction work with tennis balls and then we go into one of those 4 sections. I will usually start with a drill that includes some movement/footwork so we can bring some energy straight from the beginning and then focus on some specifics for the remaining 30/45 minutes depending on pace. I am always open to questions!
