More About Coach Jakobb

I am a young aspiring coach who was given the opportunity to coach women's and men's college soccer at Neosho County Community College. During my time at Neosho, under Head Coach Aaron Dowsett and Elliot Chadderton, I was educated on the importance of recruiting, session preparedness, proper weightlifting and stretching techniques, and tactical analysis/performance of student athletes. After spending a year under their supervision, I then decided to close that chapter of my life and move to find something more suitable for my skill level and something that would allow me to grow even more as a coach. Gardner Edgerton High School graciously accepted me back as an alumnus coach, where Derek Wilson, Head Coach of Gardner, has given me the chance to work alongside him and the rest of his staff as the Goalkeeper Coach. This position is currently home for me, and I hope to be with the program for years to come! In addition to that, the projection for myself is to continue to work towards receiving my UEFA C license and United Soccer Coaches diplomas, to which I have 4 completed, those being: Functional Training for Forwards, 4v4 Development, Get aHEAD Safely in Soccer, and Foundations of Coaching. In addition to the completion of college courses in Nutrition and Coaching Principles. My goals are to work with ambitious student athletes from the ages of 13 to 18 who need a coach who truly cares about them as a player and person. A lot of athletes don't receive the training they deserve, and I want to provide a safe environment for your child to learn and grow, whilst getting the feedback they need to make massive improvements.

NJCAA Conference Champion and District Final runner-up as a player in the 2023-24 season for Neosho County Community College Men's Soccer, ending with a record of 10-5-4. Part of the staff that helped get the Neosho County Community College Men's Soccer team to win the Conference and District titles while making an appearance in the National Tournament Championship, unfortunately falling just short as runners-up, finishing the season off at 20-2-2 and 7-0-1 in conference play for 2024-25. In addition to helping coach Neosho County Community College Women's Soccer team to a positive 10-6-1 season, 5-2-1 in conference play for the 2024-25 season as well. Which I am super proud to have been a part of the program.
As a high school player, I was a 3-year varsity letterman as a goalkeeper. With a hybrid MVP for the 2018-19 season. While maintaining a 4-year academic honor roll and being a National High School Honor Society member, before finally graduating from Gardner Edgerton High School. As for club soccer, there are too many tournaments to list, but never any championships to claim; however, multiple finalist medals while playing for the Kansas City Legends Club Academy and Pre-Academy as a striker/goalkeeper 2017-2021.

Sessions are conducted and constructed based on the goals and skill level your child presents. As a first session, every coach has to analyze their capabilities and construct the session around that. My goal is to take what I see and build off the basics to then get after the growth side and development of your student-athlete. While of course learning a little more about who they are and why they love the game! The big thing I look for during my sessions is how far they have come and how well they can retain and relay the information that is being presented to them. A lot of the time, sessions get lost due to a lack of commitment or lack of focus. The hope, though, with me as their coach, is that when they return for future sessions, they can build off of the one prior and move forward towards more complicated instruction. I do offer a GoPro option that allows not only you as the parent to see what your kids are working on, but also for your child to see through my eyes why I make the informational instructions I do. Such an example would be things like foot placement or even something as simple as a touch or shot that didn't turn out right. I would then correct to fix the issue, have your athlete look back at it, and see why I made the corrections I did. It not only reassures them of growth it also provides, upon the completion of the practice, a better understanding from the coach to the player why we as the coach say the things we do during a session's progression. Not to just break them down, but to build them back up again after their mistakes and have them visually be able to see why I, as a coach, am difficult on making sure the small details get corrected and learned from! For success and growth purposes is my mission! When they succeed, it makes their confidence grow, and it makes me beyond happy to see them smile and realize how far they come when they start to work with me! I have experience in all positions and can send session plans before the arrival of your athlete. My specialty is goalkeepers; however, I played college as a striker and in club played as a high-level defender and defensive center midfielder, as well as striker. I am super flexible and am willing to work with any position your child needs to learn in!
