More About Coach Jake

I’m a professional snowboarder with Signal Snowboards. I also skateboard and have been riding professionally for the past 13 years. Alongside my career, I’ve developed a strong passion for coaching.

I was raised through the Waterville Valley Snowboard Academy, where I had the privilege of being coached by Olympic Head Coach Bill Enos. That experience laid the foundation for my own coaching approach. Over the years, I’ve continued to coach through direct mentorship—sharing insider knowledge gained from riding and competing with some of the best snowboarders in the world.

I’ve been a professional snowboarder for over a decade, and one of my early career highlights was being named Dew Tour Rookie of the Year in 2012. I also placed 4th and 5th in Dew Tour competitions, riding alongside some of the top talent in the industry. Beyond contests, I’ve focused heavily on the creative side of snowboarding—producing and filming my own video projects, which have been well-received and respected within the snowboarding community. Those projects are a big part of how I express my style and connect with the culture of the sport.

Clients can expect a session that’s focused, fun, and fully tailored to their individual goals and ability level. I take a very hands-on, experience-based approach—drawing from over a decade of professional riding and the high-level coaching I received growing up at Waterville Valley Snowboard Academy, where I trained under Olympic Head Coach Bill Enos.

A typical session starts with a quick check-in to understand how the rider is feeling that day—physically and mentally. From there, we’ll set a clear intention for the session, whether it’s mastering a new trick, refining technique, or building confidence in a specific area of the mountain.

I focus a lot on fundamentals—edge control, body positioning, and timing—but I also emphasize real-world application through line choice, terrain use, and flow. I’ll often break things down into simple, repeatable drills, but I also encourage creativity and style throughout. Riders can expect real-time feedback, video review when possible, and a steady stream of pro-level tips that come from years of competing and filming at the highest level.

More than anything, my goal is to create a session that’s productive but never intimidating—where riders push their limits while still having a good time. Progression should always be fun.

Client Reviews

Great consultant and private lesson services from Jake. He is very responsive and checks in frequently with video footage reviews and training recommendations to reach whatever goals you set for your snowboard game. Personally, my short time with him (one month, 3 sessions) has yielded improved general snowboard mechanics, effective on and off the snow training and learning completely new rail and jump tricks in a very short amount of time.“
