More About Coach Jacopo
My name is Jacopo Ghezzi. I am 22 years old, originally from Italy, and currently a student-athlete at Florida Tech. Before moving to the U.S. to pursue my degree, I played professional soccer in Italy for one year. With over 15 years of experience as a soccer player, I’ve been fortunate to train under top-tier coaches, some of whom now coach in Serie A, and to play alongside athletes who have competed at the highest levels of Italian soccer.
Now, I am turning my passion for the game into coaching, aiming to help players reach their full potential. My training focuses on developing technique, enhancing quickness, and instilling a relentless work ethic. Most importantly, I emphasize the joy of playing the game. Together, we’ll work to make you the best version of yourself on the field while loving every moment of it
I started training when I was very young. Around 8 or 9 years old, I was scouted by a third-division team in Italy, where I played for 10 years. When I was 17, I made my debut in professional football with the first team. The following year, I decided to start a new adventure by playing in the United States. I spent my first year in a Division II school in Texas. That year, we reached the conference final but lost on penalties. I was also part of the Freshman of the Year team.
In my second, third, and fourth years, I played in Melbourne, Florida, for Florida Tech. During this period, we won the conference and the regional championship. I scored 8 goals and provided 8 assists, earning spots on the All-Conference Tournament Team, All-Conference Team and the All-Regional Team.
The athlete experience in the United States has been unbelievable. Reaching the NCAA Final Four is definitely the highlight of my college soccer career.
My practice will focus on everything a good soccer player should have: technique, running, and speed. Each of these three main principles must be achieved through dedication and consistency. At the beginning of practice, the athlete needs to activate their muscles with stretching and mobility exercises. Most of the time, this part includes fun games without the ball.
After the warm-up, the real practice begins with the technical portion: passing, shooting, and drills. In my opinion, this is the best part of the practice. The athlete gets to touch the ball as much as possible, fully enjoying the moment. Running and speed are also developed using the ball. Fun drills will help the player improve their decision-making on the field.
The most important thing is to enjoy every moment of the game. When you have fun, you play your best, and that’s what soccer is all about.
