More About Coach Jacob

I have been training young athletes for over 5 years with my business, CAB Training. Since starting, I have trained over 300 kids, improving their speed, agility and football skills. I specialize in football specific speed and agility, but I have worked with baseball, basketball, and soccer athletes and all have experienced great results! I work with athletes aged 7 through 21 and I bring a level of expertise that all age groups can get value from.

I am a certified speed and agility coach through NSPA and am working toward a CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist).

I was a two year varsity runningback at Campo Verde High School in Gilbert, AZ. I also ran track and qualified for state my sophomore year. I was on the all-academic team my senior year while totaling over 1,000 scrimmage yards.

During a typical speed and agility session, I start with either a game or dynamic warmup. The game can be an agility focused game like tag, chases, or races. A dynamic stretch warmup will consist of active stretches of each muscle in the lower and upper body. Warmup typically lasts 5-10 minutes.

After the warmup, I assign drills according to the objective of the day. Each day, I come with a plan and a proper progression to help the athletes improve on the specific task I'm teaching. Examples of what we look to improve at each session are: max speed, acceleration, elusiveness, explosiveness, jumping ability, footwork, strength, and body control.

At the end of the session, we either have conditioning or an active game. Conditioning may consist of sprints, strength exercises, strength challenges, or footwork interval training. Games are usually football specific such as 1-on-1s, RB vs LB, or ultimate football.

All sessions are 1 hour long.
