More About Coach Izzy
I played D1 baseball at Jackson State University where I was a catcher. I have been coaching high school baseball for the last 15 years, with the past 11 being at DeMatha Catholic. I was the Head JV coach for 5 years and has been a Varsity Assistant for 6 years. I have coached the infield, catchers and been the hitting coach while at DeMatha. I stress defense with every team that I coach. I oversee the defense during games, positioning players to different spots on the field.
During a hitting session, I work on hand eye coordination and balance point before the swing. I will develope a quality swing from each player that I work with.
On fielding, everything starts with basic fundamentals. Catching and throwing. Fielding balls the proper way and getting the footwork correct.
