More About Coach Issaya
I have more than 12 years of coaching experience across the recreational, select, premier, and elite soccer pathways. Throughout my career, I've worked with multiple clubs, helping players develop their technical skills, tactical understanding, and confidence both on and off the field. I have coached at the recreational, select, premier, and elite levels. I have coached with Titans Premier FC, Western WA Surf, and Valor Soccer. I primarily work with players ranging from U8 through high school. I hold a USSF D License and am currently a USSF C License candidate.
I did not compete at the collegiate or professional level. Instead, I began my coaching career while in college, where I developed my passion for coaching and athlete development. Although I do not have personal athletic awards or honors, my experience has been centered on helping athletes grow and succeed.
A typical session is designed around the individual needs and goals of each athlete. We start with a dynamic warm-up and ball mastery exercises to prepare both the body and mind for training. From there, we focus on technical development through high-repetition drills tailored to the player's position and skill level, including first touch, passing, dribbling, finishing, and 1v1 situations.
As the session progresses, I incorporate decision-making and game-realistic scenarios to help players apply their technical skills under pressure. Depending on the athlete's goals, we may also work on speed, agility, movement off the ball, and position-specific concepts.
I believe quality repetitions and purposeful training lead to the greatest improvement. Every drill has a clear objective, and I provide consistent feedback and coaching throughout the session to help players understand not just what to do, but why they're doing it. My goal is for every athlete to leave each session more confident, technically sharper, and better prepared to perform in games.
