More About Coach Henry
I have trained athletes, primarily ages 11-18 for several years. For the past two years I have served as the Head Track and Field coach at Second Baptist-Cypress and led our girls team to the first states championship in school history in May of 2026. I am the owner and lead performance coach at X-Plode Athletics in the Cypress, Texas area. We focus on training speed, agility, and overall athleticism to middle school through high school athletes.
My own athletic accomplishments include: Texas 2A State Champion in the 100, 200, and Long Jump in 2007. Five sport athlete in high school. Division 1 track and Field athlete at Sam Houston State University where I earned All Conference honors in the sprints and jumps. Qualified for NCAA National Preliminary round in 2011 and 2012.
In our session we focus primarily on proper mechanics, acceleration, max velocity, plyometrics, and lateral speed (agility). Training sessions are heavily informed by most recent scientific studies and modern understandings of speed adaptations. A typical session may include a drill specific warm up, linear or lateral testing for time, day specific workout related to speed or agility, and coach notes for the day. Sessions are one hour in length, and both private and group lessons are available.
