More About Coach Helen

I have been active in the Fitness Industry for over 17 years. My background and experience have been working with and training school-aged children, to adolescents/Teens, Adults as well as the mature Adult. I typically enjoy training the middle aged individual or athlete, but always aspire to, and enjoy working with all age groups. I have had the opportunity of coaching and teaching ages 5-12 years old at schools during breaks, presenting a program called Shadow Sports. The program focused on replacing withdrawn PE programs in school; building strength, coordination, adding healthy movement to their day in a fun, non-threatening, learning environment. The creative program incorporated a no equipment workout using "shadow" sports-based movements from many sports such as Football, Baseball, Basketball, Tennis, and others. Over the years, I have worked as a Fitness Trainer building training programs for Athletes in Golf, Tennis , Running/Triathlon, Swimming, and many others. Even though I have been very successful in areas of Functional Fitness with Athletes, as well as with School-Aged children, I later increased my knowledge, skills, and Training in the industry to incorporate the Pilates Method. This is currently, my area of Specialty and my Passion. I have had wonderful opportunities working at top notch facilities such as Desert Mountain Golf Club, Chiropractic Clinics, The Village Health Clubs, Valley of the Sun YMCA, Valley of the Sun Jewish Community Center, Private Training and Pilates Studios, The Pilates & Gyrotonic Institute, as well as my own operation , Mountain View Pilates, LLC. I hold many certifications in the Industry: ACE Personal Trainer, Core Dynamics Pilates (Comprehensive), TRX Suspension Trainer, Functional Flexibility, AEA (Aquatic Exercise Association), Cybex Golf Conditioning, as well as some training with TPI, Golf Fitness Academy,

I have competed in Track & Field at the High School level. 400m, 400m relay. Dance Club, Pom Pons, Swim. All at HS competition level. I had the honor of receiving an award during the Miss T.E.E.N. Pageant (Teens Exhibiting Excellence Nationally).

Every client can expect from me 1st, an opportunity for me to get to know the Athlete, how he/she goes about their day, a Pre-Assessment, and Assessment, a discussion of Goals, journal-keeping and Always, a well thought out movement experience and/or a challenging, yet appropriate and safe workout. I focus the drills and techniques based on the uniqueness of the client, but will always incorporate Core, Balance, joint coordination, Stability, Mobility, Strength/Agility, in some cases, Power, depending on the Sport; and always Functional Flexibility.
