More About Coach Halle

I have had the opportunity to coach a variety of different levels, including middle school boys and girls, and currently high school girls for the past three years. I received my degree from Ohio University in Sports Administration & Marketing, and when I first started coaching, it was right out of college at a sleep away summer camp. Not only did this help get my foot in the door to the world of coaching, but it also challenged me to learn different styles and concepts for teaching younger players. In the past, I have helped out with middle school girls teams in the area, coaching the Saints and doing private and small group lessons with middle school girls. I currently coaching at the high school level in Louisville, KY at Assumption High School where I started off as an Assistant Varsity Coach, and was named Head Coach in 2023. I also coach a middle school boys team in the area known as the Crusaders, where I have been since 2020. I love working with all ages, whether that be beginners to high school and can offer an array of positional training to these athletes.

For almost 20 years, lacrosse has been apart of my life as an athlete and a coach, starting in third grade I was apart of the first girls lacrosse program in my town and it allowed me to be apart of something that at the time I didn't realize would have such a huge impact on my life. In high school, I was a three year varsity starter that helped my team win three Division 1 State Championships in Ohio. After high school, I went on to play club lacrosse at Ohio University where I studied Sports Administration and Marketing.

A typical session begins with stick work, allowing the athlete to get warmed up and knock out 25 reps of general stick work (right hand passing and catching, left hand passing and catching, catching right/ passing left, catching left/ passing right, cross hand passing and catching, and one handed passing and catching) either with myself, a bounce back, or a partner. After stick work we roll right into instructional drill, typically this based on whatever the athlete is looking to work on whether that be shooting, defensive footwork, draw control, etc. We'll spend a good portion breaking down the fundamentals and building up to high reps, working on drills that the athlete can ultimately continue to practice on their own time. If it is in a small group setting, we'll start off with a basic concepts and work up to group play (ex. give and go shooting, pick and rolls, defensive slides and approaches, etc) to help build up not only the athletes skill but also their field awareness and lacrosse IQ. At the end of the session, we'll usually play a little game that incorporates what we've worked on; I've found this to be beneficial with some of my younger athletes to help keep them moving while also making it fun.
