More About Coach Greg
I started giving pitching lessons when I was in college at Northwood University in Cedar Hill. I also coached a select team (Texas Sox) that were ages 10 - 14 years old. I taught right and left handed pitchers how to pitch with proper mechanics.
I started in baseball when I was 6 years old. I played all through high school and was MVP of an invitational tournament my senior year. I was a reliever in high school. In college, I was a four year starter at Northwood University (Cedar Hill). I was the ace my sophomore through senior year. I threw two no-hitters and multiple complete game shutouts. I was named the National "Pitcher of the Week" and 1st team All Conference. After my sophomore season, I was invited to play in a semi-pro wood bat league for the SoCal Fire in Southern California and started for them the entire summer league. We competed against D-1 talent from across the nation and made it to Wichita, Kansas for the summer league College World Series. The summer following my junior season, I was invited to represent the US for USA International to play in the European tournament in Prague to get their national teams ready for their European championship. Upon completing my senior year, I got invited to a New York Mets tryout before the draft. After graduating college, I played one year of independent baseball for the McKinney Blue Thunder with a 3-1 record.
It is all about the athlete. What are his goals? What does he want to achieve? What are his strengths/weakness/skill level? I will teach him to be a smart, aggressive, fundamental pitcher. First, we will warm up (stretch, cardio, throw ball), then we will get right into the fundamentals of pitching. Along the way we will build his mindset to attack each batter and develop his unique pitching style.
