More About Coach Glenn
My coaching philosophy is to make sure that any athlete that I coach leaves my teaching a better player and person. I rely on my experience from little league through college with experience playing the outfield, infield and pitching. I have been especially focused on pitching; I have been helping a local youth group and their tournament team at the Under-11 level. I believe that my knowledge, experience and patience are the keys to success for an athlete I work with to succeed.
I have coached softball and baseball for the past 7 years. I began coaching softball in my home town when my oldest child (daughter) decided to sign up to play. I took a team of 12 young girls to the championship game in our 1st season after we started off slowly and didn't win until our 5th game of the season. The team worked hard and learned to execute their game both offensively and defensively by the end of the season.
I now coach baseball as my two youngest (boys) have begun their playing days.
I played baseball from the age 6 until through college. I made the varsity squad of a Div III college my freshman year. I was scouted during my freshman year as a pitcher as I topped out at 86mph on the radar gun. Injuries cut short my playing career, but I remain active in baseball with my 14 y.o. and continue to read up on current play and training methods.
My sessions start with dynamic stretching to make sure that the body is ready for the activity that will follow and to minimize the chance for injury.
Sessions will them move on to specifics that the player wants to work on , whether that be pitching, fielding or hitting. Baseball is a game where you fail more than you succeed (as evidenced by the fact that most Hall of Fame Players have averages below .400, which means they failed 6 out of every ten times) and I try to stress to my students that we will try to eliminate things that increase their failure rate which will increase their enjoyment and performance in the game.
