More About Coach Giovanni
I coach players of all ages, from little kids just starting out to teenagers preparing for higher‑level competition. Over the years I’ve worked with players in 1‑on‑1 private sessions, small groups, and full team environments, and I really enjoy helping each player grow in their own way.
I’ve coached with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds Grassroots and Development Academy, which gave me the chance to work with a wide range of young players and see different stages of development up close. Alongside that, I’ve done many private training sessions—both individual and group—focusing on technique, confidence, and improving areas players struggle with.
I also coached the Tustin U14 girls’ team, running their training sessions and managing games. It was a great experience that helped me grow as a coach and as a leader.
Before coming to the U.S., I coached in Italy as an assistant coach for the U16 team at Rivasamba H.C.A., a well‑known youth academy with a strong development culture.
I’ve earned three U.S. Soccer coaching licenses (11v11, 7v7, and 4v4), which qualify me to coach pretty much any age group—from young beginners to older competitive players.
Whether I’m working privately with a player or coaching a whole team, my goal is to create a fun, positive environment where players can improve, understand the game better, and enjoy playing soccer as much as I do.s trying to make them improve or group lessons creating an environment where everyone has fun and learns new skills
I am currently playing for Point Park University, a program competing in the Mountain East Conference (NCAA Division II). This season, playing primarily as a defensive midfielder, I recorded 3 goals and 2 assists, while also serving as the team captain. I was honored to be selected to the Second Team All‑Conference.
Last year, I played at Heartland Community College, where I started every match and helped the team win the Regional Championship, the District Championship, and compete in the NJCAA National Championship.
Two years ago, I competed as a freshman at Texas A&M International University (NCAA Division II), gaining valuable experience at a high collegiate level.
Before coming to the United States, I played in Italy. I began in Eccellenza (5th division) until age 16, where I was scouted and signed by Genoa C.F.C., a club competing in Serie A, one of the top leagues in the world.
I am comfortable in all midfield roles. Earlier in my career I often played as a number 10, but in recent years I have matured into a number 6 (holding midfielder) a position where I can best use my technique, tactical understanding, vision, physicality, and mentality. My strengths include consistency, leadership, and a strong passion for the game.
In a 1‑on‑1 private session, players can expect training that’s completely built around their needs. I always start by looking at where they’re currently at, their strengths, weaknesses, and what they want to improve. From there, I create a session that focuses on the details: quality of touches, ball control, passing, shooting technique, decision‑making, and overall speed of play.
We work on everything from dribbling and footwork to playing under pressure, using game‑like situations that help players think faster on the field. I put a big emphasis on mentality, staying confident, and developing smart habits that translate directly into real matches.
The sessions usually mix technical work, competitive drills, and fun exercises to keep players motivated and improving. Throughout the training, I make sure to give clear feedback, corrections, and encouragement so each player understands why we’re doing something and how it helps their game.
For small‑group sessions, the approach is very similar, the only difference is adding teamwork, communication, and decision‑making with other players involved. It creates a competitive environment where everyone pushes each other while still getting individual attention.
