More About Coach Gianluca

I have coached youth clubs in Italy in the past two years. The clubs I coached played at a regional and national level, always competing for 9 full months. The age group I worked with was mainly under 15. During my time in Italy I have been scouting both male and female players.
I was also a graduate assistant coach at Rockhurst University (MO) in 2019 and 2020 and have performed individual sessions since 2018. My focus has always been on the technical aspect of the game which I believe is the most important aspect for the game of soccer. I was in charge of preparing games from a tactical and technical standpoint, choosing the formation and making changes during the game.
I was able to gain valuable coaching experience both in Italy and in the United States and I am looking to continue my career as I am heading back to the US.

I have played soccer since I was 6 years old. I played at a professional level with the youth of AC Milan for two years and then with Portogruaro, another professional club. During my time in Italy, I have played about 40 games per year and competed at a national level. I was also selected by the Italian National Selection U14 in 2006.
I won the league several times while here in Italy and played many tournaments.
After a couple of years, I moved to the United States where I started my college career with Rockhurst University. I played with Rockhurst University for four years. We won the conference two times, regional three time and went to the final 4 three times in a row. Individually, I was nominated All-America twice and received the Elite-90 award in 2016. I also played NPSL one season in 2016.

I like to work with players individually with the goal to improve their technical skills and confidence in the game. The first thing I do with my new players is an individual evaluation to assess their skills and make a specific plan accordingly.
My approach is very much tailor-made based on the characteristics of each individual player.
There are several drills that I like to do with all of my players because they stimulate the correct use of both feet as well as the right posture and composure on the ball. Most of my drills focus on touch, control of the ball, passing, shooting and 1vs1 situations. My goal is to make players comfortable with the ball in any type of situation, with both feet and under pressure. Igf players can handle the ball right, then the game becomes much easier no matter what.

My 15-year-old son loves his sessions with Gianluca. He is transitioning from Keeper to a position player and needed a little extra help with foot speed and agility with the ball. I really like Gianluca's approach to making sure the kids are comfortable with the ball in any situation. Ayden gets hundreds of touches in at each session and is learning new drills that he can do at home and seems to always get a good workout. Gianluca is always prepared and has everything set up prior to our session. Gianluca has been very accommodating to our family's very busy schedule. He is very quick to respond to questions and is open to hearing our thoughts and ideas. I would highly recommend Coach Gianluca.

My son is loving these sessions. He’s 15 and has always been a little behind with his competition and teams. Somehow Gianluca in just a couple of sessions has given Ethan more confidence in his decision making on the field. Less panic mistakes, and more confidence in going at a 1v1 to score. I myself find Gianluca to be very professional and quick to respond if we need to change times or if someone comes up. I highly recommend this coach. Just for info my boy has played since he was 5 and is currently a high school starter on the freshman team along with a D3 club team.

Gianluca is incredibly knowledgeable. His sessions allow for thousands of touches, passes and shots and drills are done to simulate in game scenarios. Highly recommended.

Our kid has had a couple great sessions with Coach Gianluca. We can't say enough good things about this Coach. Our son is shy and usually took a while to warm up but Coach Gianluca was very good with him, he gave positive reinforcement and challenged him at the same time. On our first time meeting him, we totally went to the wrong location. The Coach waited for us patiently when we finally showed up some 30-45mins later, and still gave us the full hour of lesson! The Coach showed up early and prepared at each practice. Just today on our ride home our kid said: "I really, really like this Coach!" Thank you Coach Gianluca, we are looking forward to our next practice!
