More About Coach Garrett
I have been coaching triathletes, swimmers, and runners for 10 years. Most of my coaching is through remote triathlon coaching, though some of the coaching is in person. Recently I have also been coaching two masters swim teams in Frisco and Las Colinas. Athletes I've worked with come from a wide range of ages, high school to 70 years old. My favorite population to work with are athletes that have experience in triathlon or other endurance sport and are trying to reach the next level. However, I do occasionally take on those that are new to the sport and motivated to achieve their goals. I have coached athletes to local triathlon podiums, full and half Ironman podiums and on to Kona for the Ironman World Championships. Many high school athletes I have worked with have been runners. I've helped them reach the D1 collegiate level, going on to run at colleges like Arkansas and Texas A&M University.
I currently compete as a professional triathlete focused on half ironman distance (IM 70.3) racing. I was the Overall National Champion at the 2023 USAT Draft Legal Sprint Distance and Vice World Champion that same year. I've set many sprint distance course records, finished 2nd at the 2021 Collegiate Club Olympic Distance National Championships, and have been on many Ironman 70.3 podiums. Outside of triathlon I was the 2023 Irving Frost Marathon Champion and have had many 5K road racing overall victories.
In a typical training session, I have a discussion outlining what the client's key goals are. Then we move into laying out strengths and weaknesses. This could be a lack of endurance, a limited time schedule for training, or that a client can run all day but has been struggling to get faster. From there we come up with a specific plan to improve their performance through optimizing the way they train and minimizing injury risks. A typical individual session will consist of a warmup occasionally followed by drills, then a main set focusing on a specific training goal and end with a cool down.

Frank Li (Testimonial)
I met Garrett when I was seeking help, mentorship, and guidance with my first triathlon. I had set a bucket list of doing an Ironman before I turned 30 years old at the end of the year. Not only was Garrett open, receptive, and encouraging with my crazy idea, he was eager to take on the challenge and welcomed me with open arms. Despite unavoidable life circumstances that came up, Garrett made a way to make sure my training was adjusted and catered to my specific needs. I really enjoyed having him as a coach and as one of the best supports out there on race day! He always puts his athletes first and I can't wait to accomplish more dreams and goals with him.
Spencer Major (Testimonial)
Training under Garrett has been an enriching experience. His dedication to ensuring quick response times and attentiveness to feedback about the workouts truly set him apart. I don't know how he manages it, but every workout is crafted to provide just the right amount of challenge, pushing me while still being achievable. What truly stands out is Garrett's celebratory nature when I succeed. His genuine excitement and encouragement make every achievement feel more special. Under his guidance, I've seen significant progress in my training, including a one-minute improvement in my Zone 2 pace and a 21-minute PR in the Half-Marathon. I'm confident these are just the milestones that will be made while working together.
