More About Coach Freddie

I have always been a coach on the floor or field since I was 8 years old. In addition to being a born leader, I have had 4 years of coaching experience thus far. I was a head coach and assistant coach at the high school level. I have trained Division 1 college players and NBA players. I was a head coach at West Adams Prep High School in Los Angeles,Ca; an assistant coach at St. Bernard's High School in Playa Del Rey, Ca. I have also been coaching with Basketball's Finest Training, a charity, in the Brentwood, Palisades, and Venice, Ca. area. I typically work with age groups from 9-14, 15-18, and 18 and above. I am a Certified Personal Trainer with the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Sport Injury Specialist, Functional Movement Specialist, and I am CPR/AED certified. I specialize in speed and power development, removing joint pain, sport psychology techniques of the game, and shooting mechanics. I develop the minds and bodies of the athletes that college coaches want to have on their campuses, in their classrooms, and in their communities.

I committed to Bowling Green State University to play both basketball (point guard) and football (quarterback) as a scholarship athlete in 2005. As a quarterback in high school and in my first 2 years of college, my football coaches did not permit me to play basketball. They claimed it was so I could lead the team in winter conditioning and spring football practices. In high school basketball i was a 3 year starter as a point guard . We lost the State championship game to Shaun Livingston, who just won the NBA Championship with the Golden State Warriors, in 2004. On the football field I tore my bicep tendon in my second year at quarterback, but then moved to play the wide receiver position. By my senior year in college I was blessed to break the NCAA All Division record for The Most Receptions in a Single season with 155 receptions, surpassing the previous record of 142. I was an All American wide receiver in 2009. I was a biletnikoff finalist ( top 3 for best wide receiver in the country), Golden tate was given the award.I was the Humanitarian Bowl MVP in 2010. I played professional for the Chicago Bears in the NFL, Saskatchewan Roughriders in the CFL, and the LA Kiss in the AFL.

I am an elite, professional trainer who customizes all of my drills and techniques according to my clients goals. My typical session starts with Prehab work. Prehab consists of foam rolling, static stretching, muscle activation, joint mobility exercises, and a dynamic warmup. This will ensure that the body is prepared for the running, jumping, landing, and cutting needed to play a sport. If the client is not attempting to increase their speed and power we will get right to the skill sessions. Then I will start a basketball training session with shooting mechanics, ball handling skills, and warm up shooting drills. Next, we will progress into the shot repetition phase . This is where we train the subconscious mind and body to perfect the movement. The final phase of the basketball training session will be competition. I will have the client compete against himself. For example, I will tell him that he has to make 28/35 from several spots. If he does not succeed , he will have the luxury of receiving additional conditioning. Then to close the session I will perform static stretching, usually PNF stretches to cool down and lengthen the clients muscles to prevent any delayed onset soreness.
