More About Coach Frank

My own developmental training experience has provided me with valuable technical knowledge and insight into the mechanics of the "Art of Boxing". Correct physical conditioning, balance, footwork, offense, defense, strategy, mental preparation, proper diet, personal hygiene, first-aid, and ethics are all integrated into my training curriculum.

I have been actively engaged in the formal coaching/training of boxers (both amateur and professional levels) at several professional boxing gymnasiums within the Metro New York City area. My coaching credentials include certification by the United States Amateur Boxing Association, Inc. During my amateur boxing career, I have had the benefit of working with some of the most knowledgeable and talented trainers in the New York City area.

Lastly, I have been actively involved in coaching amateur boxers since 1995.

My amateur boxing background encompasses twelve years of competitive experience (within the middleweight division). Many of my amateur bouts were held in the New York, Long Island, New Jersey, Connecticut fight clubs. During my competitive years, I have also served as a sparring partner for many top amateur and professional boxers from featherweight to heavyweight division.

Boxing education basics include stance, proper balance, correct fist-making, hand position, defense (blocking, parrying, chopping, stopping, leverage guard, bumping, catching, cuffing, slipping, ducking, back-stepping, side stepping and clinching techniques), offense (the proper use of the jab, the hook, uppercuts, combinations punching), foot-work, proper punching technique, bag punching (heavy bag and speed bag), proper rope skipping technique, the correct use of the medicine ball, boxing-oriented calisthenics exercises, weight control, as well as consultation on the development of a healthy life-style and self-confidence.

Client Reviews

Coach Frank has such a good vibe about himself—calm, focused on the training session, extremely knowledgeable, and has a way with getting you engaged in what he’s teaching you. Couldn’t have expected anything better. Looking forward to our next lessons.

I found coach Frank as well as this first session with him to be very informative and interesting. He displayed great professionalism and knowledge in the sport and art of boxing. I was very surprised at how much I learned on my first session and and how patient coach Frank was considering that I am a brand new boxer. He was very thorough in teaching technique and was also very clear in his explanations. I also like the fact that he was able to visually show me what I could not understand or grasp.

A hell of a fine trainer!
Excellent old-school boxing trainer. Well-versed in the classical school of boxing techniques and training methods. Patient, bright, disciplined, creative, knowledgeable, and humane. Completely devoted to the art and respectful/protective toward his athletes.
I never realized that there was so much to boxing. Initially, I thought it was about two guys throwing punches at each other and trying to land the big one. But, there is so much more to boxing than I ever realized. It is definitely a science and a great physical culture system for enhancing complete personal development (body, mind and even the soul!). I have even developed a greater sense of personal discipline because of this particular type of training. One of my great-grandfathers learned boxing, as a dough-boy, in World War I. He talked to me, and my brothers, about how learning to properly fight with his fists gave him so much more confidence than simply handling a rifle. In those days, there were famous boxers (such as the great lightweight champion Benny Leonard) who acted as physical fitness instructors as well as hand-to-hand combat instructors. Anyway, I think that anyone who finds the right boxing instructor will gain quite a bit of knowledge, skill, physical fitness and confidence. Knowledge lasts a lifetime. I believe that it is worth the effort.
As a New York City police officer, I need to be in excellent physical condition in order to vigilantly discharge my duties. The boxing training that I had undertaken with this coach provided me with the conditioning, realistic skills in close-quarter combat, and the confidence necessary to be a credit to my partner, myself, and the police department. I had boxed in the amateurs, as a teenager, but this particular training format definitely elevated my conditioning and combat capabilities to a new level. There was much wisdom imparted to me via this gentleman and I am grateful for his assistance and level-headed instruction. Lastly, I would recommend this professional to anyone who would want to either get in superb physical condition as well as learn how to defend himself/herself in a hand-to-hand combat situation.
Possesses a solid foundation in boxing as a natural method of combat as well as a system of physical culture. There is always something new to learn while training with this gentleman. Fascinating and rewarding on an intellectual and athletic level.
I have come to understand what is meant by the art of boxing, thanks to this gentleman. It is a shame that there aren't more boxing instructors such as this fellow. Boxing is a science and more people should become acquainted with this wonderful and ancient art form.
I have been training amateur boxers in the New York City area for over 40 years. Frank has assisted some of my boxers in the area of conditioning. He has never interfered with my boxing instruction methods or the styles that I have imparted to my boxers. To me, that is a demonstration of respect and also a testament to his professionalism. In actuality, his assistance improved the fitness level of one of my boxers to such an extent that he progressed to the finals of the New York City Golden Gloves tournament in 2012. Yes, my boxer was successful in acquiring the heavyweight novice title. Lastly, My boxer also recognized and thoroughly appreciated Frank's contribution to his success.
I am a much more confident person because of what you have taught me in the gym. It goes beyond simply losing weight and learning to handle myself (in a fight). But, I see myself in a different manner. Yes, I have developed faith in myself.
