More About Coach Ford

I'm a former Division II baseball player who has learned a lot about the game of baseball through great coaching and playing experience. I have played against MLB caliber players such as Cameron Maybin, Craig Kimbrel, Anthony Bass, David Lough, and Matt Adams - and it is that competition that gave me the skill set needed to teach youth about the intricate parts of the game that will help them down the road throughout their competitive playing career. I currently sit 4th all-time in Stolen Bases at Gannon University and would love to pass along what I learned to ready and able students of the game.

My specialty is base running, bunting, and the defensive fundamentals for middle infielders and outfielders.

I love working with kids who love the game of baseball. The earlier your child learns about the mental aspect of baseball, the better prepared he or she will be to compete at the next level.

* Two-Time American Legion Western PA All-star
* Ran a consistent 6.60 60-yard dash at multiple baseball showcases
* 3-Year Starter at Division 2 Gannon University - Outfield
* 5th All-time in Stolen bases in a Career at Gannon University
* .976 Fielding Percentage Sophomore Year
* Hit .276 with 21 stolen bases Sophomore Year playing in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC)

My specialties are the following:

* Bunting - I will teach the athlete the fundamentals of bunting, particularly, when the best situation is to bunt and the correct direction to bunt to the baseball given the scenario. I will also teach the entire bunting tree to the athlete: 1) Drag Bunt for a hit 2) Sac Bunt to 3rd 3) Sac Bunt to 1st 4) Push Bunt for a hit

* Base Running - Given my speed, I have had many opportunities to fine tune the art of base running. I will teach the athlete things to look for on the base paths to help advance to the next base without the help of the batter.

* Base Stealing - I stole 56 bases in college and will pass all that knowledge on to the athlete. I will teach the proper lead off size from first, second and third base to the athlete. Additionally, I will teach the proper lead off size to steal bases, good counts to run on, as well as what to look for from the pitchers they are trying to steal against.

* Hitting - While hitting was not my strongest suit in College, I did hit .250 over the course of my career and would be happy to pass the knowledge I gained from my coaches down to the athlete. The work out would include soft toss into a net, some T-work, and some Batting practice is the facility permits.
