More About Coach Evan

I have been a Division III College Basketball Coach for three years. I coached at my Alma Mater, Drew University upon graduation in 2013-14. Following that I received the Head Assistant job at Washington College in Chestertown, MD. I am now currently the Head Assistant and Recruiting Coordinator at The College of New Jersey in Trenton.

I typically work with all ages, but I try and focus in on 7th-12th grade focusing in on skill development to either get athletes ready for Varsity basketball or fine tuning there skills for the top level of HS basketball.

I graduated from West Essex High School in 2009, where I was a 1,000 point scorer and team captain my senior year. I received First Team All Conference, First Team All Essex County Defense, and First Team All Versatile in Essex County during my senior year of HS. I went on to play at Drew University, lettering on their Varsity team for four seasons and becoming a captain during my senior year of college.

My main focus is on skills development. In the modern era of basketball no matter what position, everyone needs to be able to pass, shoot, and handle the basketball. The more versatile a player you are, the harder you are to guard and the harder it is for your coach to take you off the court. A normal sessions will include a warm-up/stretch, some ball handling exercises, and some form shooting to get warmed up. From there we will incorporate all of the above into live game speed drills. We will work on handling the basketball right into live speed shots/finishes around the rim. It will be an hour of competitive, full speed drills to get the most out of the session. There will be free throws mixed in while the athlete is tired, to simulate game scenarios.
