I am big on meeting a player where they are with their skillsets and allowing them to feel comfortable in their progressions. I like to try things out of the norm to keep the attention of my clients while also challenging them. Playing games throughout my training sessions to increase focus level while reiterating the basics to bring it all together.

A client can expect a fun workout while learning and mastering the basics. As an athlete who had a great career in baseball, I learned that muscle memory and strength is they key to what makes baseball easy. Athletes of different ages come to me with different levels of strength and movements. My job is to make sure that these movements are consistent and powerful.

A client can expect to be okay with making mistakes while adjusting to get to the stated goal. As a coach who played in Division One Baseball in the previous generation, I understand that delivery is huge when communicating to athletes. My delivery allows me to reach a player mentally and emotionally; it keeps the energy level up for the entirety of the lesson and information is retained better that way. As a result, this has allowed me to build trust between my clients and I. This also directly effects my relationships with the parents because we communicate during the lesson about the things we learn, while also allowing the athlete to explain to their parent what they feel needs improvement as well , which allows clients to advocate for themselves.

A client can expect a patient coach who will not only praise the good things but praise the bad result but mechanics are great. Athletes get stuck on the result of a repetition and that can hinder progress as a lesson progresses.

A client can expect for things to get challenging when things are starting to feel easy. It’s important to keep the attention span of my clients, especially athletes under 11 years of age, by interchanging lesson plans, to give them has something to look forward to prior to the next lesson.

A client can expect to learn ways to prevent injury because I had to have 2 surgeries while playing in my career. I take the time to stretch and strengthen my players before and after the lesson while teaching the stretches to prevent injury in the future.

A client can expect to have conversations and ask questions comfortably without feeling like they are talking to a parent. This opens up a level of trust with the athlete and creates a real relationship. A client can also expect a great coach-parent-player relationship. Not only do we communicate during the lesson about the things we learn, but I also allow the athlete to explain to their parent what they learned and I follow filling in the information that was missed.
