More About Coach Eric

I have been a coach for 6 years. I have worked with young athletes from the middle school level to the high school level. Mostly worked for APT speed located in Coconut Creek where we specialized in soccer I was in charge of the strength and conditioning aspect of it until 2017 when i left APT. I have had the pleasure of working with a lot of the youth soccer clubs in Broward and Dade county. The clubs we have worked with are Miramar FC, Weston FC, Boca United, Parkland FC, Elite FC and Delray AC. I have worked with all ages of the youth clubs from U12 to U18, so anywhere from 10 years old to 18 years old. Working at APT also gave me the opportunity to work with professional soccer players and other professional basketball, tennis and football players. They always came to work with me in their off-season and during the holidays to keep their fitness and skills in top shape. I am an exercise science and health promotions Graduate from Florida Atlantic Univeristy and also have a certificate of nutrition from Shaw Academy. CPR and AED certified. CSCS certified from the NSCA.Functional strength coach 1 & 2. Functional movement screen level 1 and 2.

I played soccer all my life till i was 14. Played travel soccer and then changed sports to basketball where I played 2 years of JV basketball, and 2 years of varsity Basketball . The company I work for specializes in soccer and the coaches being very knowledgeable have taught me a lot. My soccer expertise have grown.

Always begin with foam rolling to warm up the play doe. mobility work which is a better modality and a form of static stretching which is why we warm up the play doe through foam rolling and the mobility work helps us ease and relax our muscles better to get into better positions through our stretches. Next we do some corrective/activation exercises which teach you how to move your body and have the proper muscular sequencing to move well and prevent injuries. We then finish with a thorough dynamic warm up.
We begin with different cone drills depending on position and ability of the player. work on some shooting from set pieces and also on the move. have a good time and were always getting better, were always tracking how we are getting better and how we are getting better. I provide a family atmosphere and a lot patience and great example.

up with a light jog and a dynamic warm up and hip activation. Depending on the athlete I contour the session. Every athlete has strengths and weaknesses. Technique and building strong fundamentals are crucial to building good habits. I start always with primary muscle exercises for strength. Different strengthening lower body exercises of 10-12 reps and everything is 4 sets to build muscular endurance and hypertrophy(size). Upper body is of target also for correct sprinting technique, building physicality but that's if that is something the player requires.Then we go into agility and movement. Working on feet precision, sprinting technique and/or change of direction. We finish with 2-4 soccer specific drills pertaining to touches, kicking technique, dribbling through obstacles and changing directions with the ball and without the ball. We also focus on position specific drills to go along with our technical soccer drills in order to simulate game like situations which also transcends into teaching the game as we work on becoming better skilled soccer players. We finish with 3-4 core exercises then jog to cool down and static stretch to finish.
