More About Coach Eric

I have experience coaching boys and girls basketball from 3rd grade all the way through high school. My area of expertise is working with high school students. I am currently an assistant coach with the New Trier Varsity Girls Basketball Team. I've coached AAU teams at the 6th, 9th, and 10th grade levels for boys and girls.

Additionally, I provide mental training and peak performance coaching services to high school and college athletes. I have implemented several strategies at a team level, and have also worked with clients 1 on 1. My book, Basketball Mindfulness 101, is one of very few books available that teaches basketball players how to apply mindfulness concepts to basketball training.

I played basketball at Geneva High School and was voted Most Improved Player my junior year. I was also a golfer in high school and earned conference champion and all-conference honors in my sophomore and junior seasons, respectively.

My main area of focus is providing mental training services to players. This program consists of an hour of personal coaching per week, daily and weekly reading and video assignments, and the daily practice of mental training. Please visit mindfulballer.com/training to learn more about the program.

I also offer skill training services. After in-depth study of motor learning principals from Trevor Ragan at TrainUgly.com, John Kessel of Team USA Volleyball, and Dr. Richard Schmidt, I've decided to adopt a random practice approach to skill building. Early in sessions correct form and movements will be taught, but the learning of decisions and reactions will be emphasized over technique. Workouts with me will have a heavy focus on making the right decision, not just mirroring the move I ask you to practice.

Client Reviews

It is a testament to your program that Elizabeth is even conflicted over this. She tends to be very dedicated when it comes to supporting her friends. Her experience with Coach Duffett and that team was a defining one for her. She came off of that season with an eye opening understanding of what a good coach could do for her. In addition, it gave her much better appreciation for the dynamics of a proper team vs playing with a bunch of your friends.
