More About Coach Enrique
My coaching journey includes:
Red Bulls Youth Programs: Coached boys and girls teams from U10–U15, focusing on technical development, game understanding, and confidence on the ball.
TSF Academy (Wayne, NJ): Head Coach for boys 2010, 2006, and 2005 age groups, emphasizing tactical awareness and team play in a competitive environment.
FC Barcelona Residency Academy (Casa Grande, AZ): Coached the U18 boys during the 2019 season and the U16 boys in 2020, bringing a high-performance mindset and training methodology modeled after FC Barcelona’s global philosophy.
Houston Dynamo Academy – Catalyst Program: Served as Director and Coach for four years, helping guide young players through foundational stages of elite development.
GFI Academy – Current Role: Lead Phase Coach working with MLS NEXT U13 and U14 boys. Focused on individual growth within a structured, professional environment.
I hold a U.S. Soccer Federation National B License, and bring a player-first approach to every session. My coaching blends technical detail, game intelligence, and positive mentorship to build complete players—on and off the pitch.
If you're looking for structured, high-quality training and real developmental progress, I’d love to work with you.
I’ve been fortunate to gain diverse playing experience both internationally and in the U.S.
I began my career overseas, playing in Argentina with Club Mirte de Rosario, a semi-professional team affiliated with All Boys. From there, I moved to Colombia, where I joined the U23/Reserve squad of Independiente Santa Fe, one of the country’s most historic clubs.
After my time abroad, I returned to the U.S. and trained with the Portland Timbers during their inaugural MLS season. I also spent time with the Harrisburg City Islanders (USL) during their winter camp and played the 2013 season with Jersey Express (PDL).
Following that season, I was awarded an athletic scholarship to play at Felician University (NCAA Division II). Additionally, I had the privilege of participating in the U.S. Open Cup, the most prestigious tournament in American soccer.
My coaching curriculum is built around game-related exercises that emphasize both the coordinative and cognitive demands of soccer. I believe that training must reflect the realities of the game to be truly effective in developing players who can think, adapt, and execute under pressure.
Each session is designed with the following core principles:
Game Realism: Exercises replicate match scenarios to improve decision-making, spatial awareness, and technical execution within context.
Cognitive Development: Players are constantly engaged through dynamic problem-solving, pattern recognition, and scanning, which promotes a deeper understanding of the game.
Technical Execution Under Pressure: By embedding technical actions within realistic situations, players improve their ability to perform skills with precision during actual competition.
Guided Discovery: I use targeted questions throughout the session to encourage players to reflect, make decisions, and discover solutions themselves. This method fosters autonomy and long-term retention of tactical concepts.
Ultimately, the aim of my curriculum is to create intelligent, adaptable, and technically proficient players who can contribute meaningfully to any team environment.
