More About Coach Emma
Since I was 16 years old, I have served as a private lacrosse coach as well as coached a youth lacrosse league for three years in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Having been involved in sports all of my life, as well as being the eldest of four siblings who all play lacrosse, I have been fortunate enough to use my lacrosse career as a way to give back to others through coaching.
I played Division 1 lacrosse at Dartmouth College for 4 years in Hanover, New Hampshire. I was a starting defender for almost all 4 years and was captain my senior year. I received All-Academic Ivy my senior year and was the recipient of the Josie Harper Award, an award given to “ For Showing Love for the game, Genuine Respect and Care for Her Teammates and Pride in Dartmouth Lacrosse and Hard Work”
Typical sessions will include 1-2 hours of learning the basic skills. From basic passing, learning to use both hands when cradling a lacrosse stick, shooting, to defensive footwork with ladders and cones. We will work on Lacrosse IQ, and fitness if needed. I would take drills learned from my time in coaching, high school, and college and would apply them in our sessions.
First, we would start with a typical warm up. Stretching, followed by passing and catching, followed by offense/defense specific learnings and drills, shooting, 1-on-1's, light conditioning, and ending with a quick recap and "quiz" of that days teaching so the athlete is leaving with an immediate sense of knowledge and improvement to her game.
