More About Coach Emily

I coached the Carroll High School JV team this past season. In addition to that, I have been going to local softball leagues and schools throughout my college career to give pitching clinics. Every year at college I was required to run a pitching camp for athletes from elementary school all the way up to high school.

I competed at the collegiate level at Bluffton University from 2011-2015 where I earned awards for being on the HCAC Honorable Mention team as well as the All-Sportsmanship Team. I also was recognized for my scholastic achievements by receiving HCAC All-Academic Team honors three years in a row.

I structure my lessons in two parts. The first part of the lesson focuses on the fundamentals of pitching. I believe in having good solid mechanics before moving onto more complex pitches. I create charts for all my students so they can see their improvements and have a guideline of what they need to do to move onto the next level. The second part of my lessons focuses on how to be a mentally tough athlete. Pitching is a tough position and is not for the weak at heart. I have created lessons with corresponding worksheets to push athletes to the next level in personal development. Some of the topics covered include goal setting, self-discipline, and leadership skills.
