More About Coach Emilio

I am currently a part of the technical staff for UC Riverside Men's Soccer program, assisting with their everyday operations on and off the pitch. I also run my own private training company, where I develop and design specialized training sessions for individuals of all ages looking to take their game to the next level. I currently have my D License, seeking my C License

Originally from Northern California, I started playing my club soccer at Santa Clara Sporting, then moved to De Anza Force a few years later. I was a part of the Olympic Development Program until I was 13, when I was then invited and a part of the US U14 Boys National Team. During my time with the National Team, I played for the De Anza Force USSDA U16 Academy. After my two years with De Anza Force's Academy, I was invited to play with the San Jose Earthquakes USSDA U18 Academy team. While with the San Jose Earthquakes, I consistently took part in the US National Training Centers until 2013 when I was recruited to play Division 1soccer at San Diego State University. After a year at San Diego State, I decided it was not the right fit for me and transferred to University of California, Riverside, where I was a three year starter and finished my college career.

A typical session focuses on the sharpening up an individual’s technical abilities, while teaching proper techniques. Everything practiced is with the individual and their game in mind. Asking probing questions to challenge the athlete to think about why we are doing certain exercises is important to the development of the athlete. I take a wholistic approach to the development of the athlete so that he or she can become a mentally strong and engaged soccer player.
