More About Coach Emilio
With a robust coaching background that includes serving as a championship winning, Men's Soccer Assistant Coach at the Division 1 - University of California, Riverside (January 2018 – May 2021) and extensive experience as a Youth Soccer Coach for local clubs with players aged 4-15 (January 2018 – November 2023), I have a proven track record in developing and executing comprehensive training sessions, recruiting and evaluating talent, mentoring student-athletes, and fostering individual player development from foundational youth levels through competitive collegiate environments, and into the professional game. My experience encompasses everyday operations, planning and executing training, organizing community initiatives, developing program camps, and creating targeted development goals with individual players and their families.
Originally from Northern California, I started playing my club soccer at Santa Clara Sporting, then moved to De Anza Force a few years later. I was a part of the Olympic Development Program until I was 13, when I was then invited and a part of the US U14 Boys National Team. During my time with the National Team, I played for the De Anza Force USSDA U16 Academy. After my two years with De Anza Force's Academy, I was invited to play with the San Jose Earthquakes USSDA U18 Academy team. While with the San Jose Earthquakes, I consistently took part in the US National Training Centers until 2013 when I was recruited to play Division 1 soccer at San Diego State University. After a year at San Diego State, I decided it was not the right fit for me and transferred to University of California, Riverside, where I was a three year starter and finished my college career.
Families can expect training sessions to be centered around:
Mastery of the 5 Intricacies of Fútbol: Dedicated drills and exercises focusing on Balance, Coordination, Technique, Strength, and Intuitive Thinking.
Creative Problem-Solving: Development of on-field creativity and decision-making skills, inspired by the adaptive spirit of "cascaritas" (street pick-up soccer).
Dynamic & Game-Like Scenarios: Placing players in environments and situations where they must perceive challenges, conceive solutions, make decisions (including deception), execute soccer actions efficiently, and assess outcomes.
Cognitive Skill Enhancement: A deliberate focus on improving the naturalistic soccer cognitive progressions: Perception, Conception, Decision, Deception, Execution, and Assessment.
Cultivating Intuitive Sporting Outlook: Encouraging players to trust their instincts and develop a high-octane, courageous approach to solving problems on the field or court.
