More About Coach Ej
I have several years of experience coaching and training athletes across a range of competitive levels. My background includes working with beginners who are just developing fundamentals, as well as more advanced athletes focused on performance, conditioning, and sport-specific skills. I’ve coached in both school-based programs and private training settings, which has given me a strong understanding of how to tailor training to different goals and environments. typically work with youth and young adults, but I’m comfortable training athletes of all ages depending on their needs.
I’ve had the privilege of competing at the professional level as a soccer player. I played for the Oakland Roots, where I gained experience at a highly competitive stage of the game and continued to grow both technically and mentally as an athlete. My time with the Roots allowed me to compete against top-level talent, maintain a strong training discipline, and understand the demands of performing in a professional environment.
Throughout my career, I’ve been recognized for my work ethic, athleticism, and ability to adapt to different roles on the field. These experiences not only shaped me as a player but also strengthened my ability to mentor and develop other athletes, bringing a professional mindset to the training environment.
In a typical training session with me, clients can expect a high-energy, structured workout that’s designed to build skill, confidence, and game-ready conditioning. I focus heavily on fundamentals first, making sure every athlete is moving with proper technique before we increase intensity. Sessions usually begin with a dynamic warm-up that includes mobility, activation, and light ball work to prepare both the body and mind.
From there, we move into technical drills—first touches, receiving under pressure, passing combinations, and ball manipulation. I tailor these drills to the player’s position and individual goals. For attackers, that might mean finishing reps, 1v1 moves, and off-the-ball movement patterns. For midfielders, we’ll work on scanning, quick combinations, and controlling tempo. For defenders, we emphasize body positioning, timing, and winning duels.
