More About Coach Edward

I've been a youth coach for 30 years, and have coached boys and girls from beginners to high level travel teams. I've also coached school teams from middle school to boys and girls varsity programs. I'm currently the Girl's Varsity Coach at Valley Lutheran High School and on the coaching staff at Arizona Christian University. I've held multiple coaching certification in different sports, but currently I'm a certified coach with the NFHS, which is mandatory for all high school coaches.

Started playing basketball at the Boys and Girls Club's of Scottsdale, before moving on to Varsity at Arcadia High School in Scottsdale/Phoenix, AZ. From Arcadia, I went on to play my college carrier at Arizona College of the Bible (now part of Arizona Christian). I mainly played the point guard position on a team that was ranked #1 in the nation going into the national tournament. I was a 1st Team All-American in the 91-92 season, averaging 24.6 pts, 9.5 assists, 6.0 rebounds, while shooting 90% from the free throw line and 44% from behind the arc.

A typical session run about an hour and a half and is oriented towards technique. I'll teach them how to warm up, their shooting, from hand placement to alignment, footwork, balance, and the finish. I work a lot of ball handling. Using 2 basketballs we'll do many drills that most kids learn with just 1 ball. I have a chair routine that is different than anyone is currently doing that will push your child's weak hand to a new level. By nature I'm a defensive coach and love to teach the other side of the ball, upon request I'll work with the student on the Defensive foot work, hand position and teach them where they can be physical. I will also include a weekly planner, with drills and exercises for the kids to check off things they've done through the week. I can also tailor a plan/workout if the students want more of a workout to get them into shape.

Client Reviews

Best run, most organized camp my family has ever been to. We'll be back!
My child has played, attended summer camps, and went through one on one sessions with Coach Measel. He's the best, so happy we found him over 5 years ago.
