SHOOTING FOCUS

Intro: Shooting Footwork- To develop proper footwork technique while receiving a pass.
. The most effective players are in "READY TO SHOOT" position as ball arrives, yet if needed, can still choose one of the other 2 attack options from TRIPLE THREAT.
. Shooter must ORGANIZE feet (FOOTWORK) before receiving the ball- using "1-2 Step" OR "Jump Stop"
. A SHOT IS ONLY AS GOOD AS THE PASS.
1-2 Step Drill (with and without partner)- used to generate lift and rhythm for the shot. It also is a very effective way for the shooter to regain balance and control when on the run from the left, right or straight ahead.
. (Individual) Toss ball and let bounce. Player steps behind the ball, catching it with hands in shooting position.
. (w/ Partner) Using a chest, bounce, and skip
. "Rhythm Bounce" 5-shots a piece.
Repeat, but use "Jump Stop"
-Mikan Drill (5 mins)
- Shooting Refresher (elbow in, hands spread, pointer & middle finger last to touch ball, etc.)
- Long Elbow Shot Drill - shooting during transition
- Banana Run Drill - Curl cut from under basket to elbow
- Flat Angle Shooting- Shoot, go away, come back

OUR PRIMARY FOCUS WILL BE ENSURING PROPER SHOOTING TECHNIQUE BECOMES HABIT!
